5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

I visited yesterday with my partner and family members. The location on the historic Hastings fishing beach (by the East Hill lift) is just perfect and the food did not disappoint. The large cod and chips is extremely big, you are warned! I took it as personal challenge to finish it but in truth the fish was so fresh and... More

We have lived in Hastings for 10 years and shockingly not visited before, although we have popped in on the off chance but they were always full. This time, we were lucky as arrived just before midday on a Saturday. Services was spot on from the very friendly staff and the food was delicious - beautiful fish with crispy non... More

I took a friend there from London and she was amazed at the extremely reasonable price Maggie and her staff are lovely people and go out... More

I grew up in Hastings but left 20 years ago so while back visiting to show my kids the delights of the seafront in a seaside town we had to go to a quality purveyor of fish and chips. We had heard good things about Maggie's from friends still in the area and were not disappointed. Frankly when my food... More

We visited Maggie's without a reservation and were lucky enough to be squeezed in as it was otherwise fully booked. Friendly service, delicious fish, fresh from that morning's catch, and excellent chips (they're often so disappointing from fish and chip shops, I find). I'd definitely recommend, but book ahead!

Visited for lunch with family having booked in advance - a must. Fabulous cod and chips. Huge piece of non greasy battered fish and ample crispy chips with soft centres. Lovely tartare sauce and mushy peas to go with. Staff were lovely and very accommodating as some of our party were late. Kids were given pens and paper to keep... More

We had heard great things about Maggie's and were not disappointed. We have been three times now, each time taking different friends and everyone has been really impressed. The fish is fresh as can be, and I like the fact you can actually see the fish through the batter, rather than the thick greasy batter so commonly experienced. The chips... More

Having read the excellent reviews we were excited to get a table for the Firework evening. The location is excellent, set in an old fisherman's hut overlooking the boats and beach. Service was prompt, polite and friendly, especially given how busy it was. My girlfriend and I both ordered fish and chips which was fairly priced. After eating a few... More

Description
Here at Maggie's we're in our third decade of serving you hearty portions of the freshest fish, cooked to order, in a warm and welcoming cafe - the same traditional family-friendly approach as when Margaret Banfield first put her name above the door. We're right on the Fisherman's Beach - so you'll enjoy some spectacular views while you tuck in to our fish, direct from the market below us and our specials are straight off the boats with the morning catch - keeping a carbon footprint of less than 20 miles. You can't get fresher than that! Maggie's is licensed too, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with your meal. We are open six days a week, but it's advisable to call us ahead to reserve your table, and if you've got a special occasion, we welcome parties of up to 40 guests.
