I don't know about the lunch food but for the sweet offerings simon the pieman offers a great selection of nice cakes, pies and shortbreads. The nice atmosphere and friendly service makes itva good choice for coffee and tea.

This was our first port of call on arrival in Rye and we only popped in for a drink and cake. The menu had a good choice and the cakes looked appealing. We had fruit cake and chocolate fudge cake, both of which we enjoyed. The cappuccino was good. The service was a little slow but the waitress was very... More

Once my friend tried to get served at the counter but staff too busy talking at back. Walked out . Second time now ( different occasions) have looked in the window at their dried out and uninspiring cakes to see a large blow fly going crawling over and over the pies and pastys. The first time I watched a staff... More

There are so many lovely places to eat in Rye but sadly we chose this one based on the name. The staff were very off hand, the food uninspiring and expensive and there was no ambiance. A ploughmans for £9.20 - we expected something really special but it was below average with pre packed ingredients.

Simon the Pieman located in Rye, opposite to the local church, is a quaint spot for cake, tea and pies. Opened in 1920 it is features a beautiful exterior resembling a cottage house. The interior features a fireplace and between 8 to 10 tables. The service is super friendly offering table service. I ordered the banana walnut cake which featured... More

We visited for a snack last weekend and were very disappointed. The menu doesn't look like it had changed from the 70s. The sandwiches looked awful on cheap white bread. We waited ages to be served. In fact people who arrived after us were served first. I went for carrot cake with cream.... Which came out of an aerosol can.... More

We were tempted by the roaring fire! It was very busy on Saturday afternoon but we managed to get one of the last tables! Had a pot of tea and cheese toasties! Just right to warm us up! The choice of savoury and sweet things looked great and the service was efficient too!

We popped in here for a light bite for lunch and a warming cup of coffee as outside was freezing on the day of our visit. The place was busy but we managed to snag the last remaining table - which as luck would have it was right in front of the open fire! Food wise they offer some daily... More

This is the perfect tea room for an afternoon in Rye. The service was friendly, the cakes absolutely delicious - perfectly situated and very traditional. Came back for a full lunch and that was great too!

Have been visiting this tea shop for nearly fourth years but it has gone downhill and unless it changes we won't go back. The menu is not nicely presented and the only black coffee served is espresso. Needless to say we didn't stay so need out and went elsewhere in the town. Such a shame as this was a lover... More
