The Plough has a warm, welcoming and relaxing feel to it as you walk in. It's in a great location with beautiful country walks nearby to walk off your meal. We have eaten there several times and never been disappointed but a particularly outstanding meal last night prompted this review. Slow-cooked pulled Romney lamb and local scallops with sweet potato... More

RESTAURANT'S FAVOURITE REVIEW

With delightful views over the Brede Valley this lovely pub was very welcoming. The lady who greeted us when we went in was friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of the menus. Impressively our drinks were served to us at our table. It wasn't busy but the service was good. An excellent variety of meals to suit all appetites... More

There is such a lovely atmosphere in the Plough and the people working there are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Our meals were delicious and their... More

We have often passed The Plough and finally ventured in tonight. Simon was very welcoming, the view out the back wonderful. Food was very good and well presented, drinks good too. Shall definitely return, especially when they have a special offer on!

We were staying nearby for a couple of nights, and the Plough was recommended to us. Good choice. We had such a good meal (tapas) on the Monday, that we went back on the Tuesday and chose from the main menu - again, excellent quality food. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and were very accommodating about our requests for... More

Dropped in for the first time in many years one Friday. There was a band playing, great company, very good food and the ale excellent. Service friendly and welcoming, well recommended and well worth a trip!

Many of us vegetarian find it extremely frustrating and antiquated that so many pubs in the area simply do not offer a decent vegetarian option for a Sunday roast. So I was over the moon to hear that The Plough had introduced its new vegetarian NUT ROAST option for Sunday lunch!! I can confirm that it is utterly delicious (so... More

I visited here with my partner for dinner as we were staying quite close and it had been recommended by a local couple. We did try the night before but the car park was full! A good sign of it's popularity. The next evening we booked and got a cab so we didn't have to worry about parking. Cab's can... More

We were here for a weekend break and were pleasantly surprised to find live music as we arrived for our dinner. The service was attentive and the choice of food was very good. The chef even conjured up a nice vegan dish for my daughter. A good atmosphere and nice evening all round.

Description
The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy a fantastic larder of local produce, from the freshest of fish landed in Rye and Hastings every day, to the wonderful delights from the Romney Marsh such as lamb and beef as well as the best of seasonal vegetables. With all this on our doorstep, we offer a good choice of local beers, ciders, wines and freshly prepared food, from our tapas, to our original choice of freshly prepared dishes and our homemade ice creams.
