My wife and I stopped at The Old Bakery Tearoom on our way to and from a recent holiday in West Somerset and as usual we were met with a very warm welcome from Alan, our food was excellent and beautifully presented. Coffee was hot and very welcome after a long journey. We cannot fault this lovely establishment and only... More

The food, service, cosy feel, in fact everything at the bakehouse is lovely, just wish we could take it all home with us. We ate there several times during our holiday and always had lovely meals and service. It is a very special place as are the two people who own it. If you have never visited the bakehouse you... An afternoon ride out took us to Stow on the Wold, haven't been here for about 20 years so long overdue to this picturesque little town. Our first port of call, as we were both desperate for a drink, took us to these fabulous tea rooms! What a delightful hidden gem!! The owners have got it so right. The menu... More

Hello Sam G Glad that you found us and even though we've been here for 12 years, we weren't here last time you came! It's really encouraging when guests come in and "get" what we do! Pleased that you enjoyed your lunches and especially the coffee and walnut cake! See you again, but don't leave it 20 years... many thanks,... More

This is a lovely café, where the owners, Alan and Jackie, are happy for the clients to stay for as long as they wish too even at busy times...so different to many cafes where it all seems hectic and rushed. The Old Bakery is an oasis of calm. Alan does all the serving, he is a friendly man and has... More

What a lovely experience, afternoon tea at The Old Bakery Tearoom. We enjoyed, surely, the best scones in the world. The fruit jam was home made and delicious and that cream .... oh how good. Proper tea in a teapot, gentle music and great service. We are visiting from Australia and are taking home, not only visions of the beauty... More

Hello marfly Jackie makes I don't know how many scones each day and will often make more through the day as needed. We have always served our scones warmed from the oven NOT microwaved, as many places do, and served with homemade jams and quality clotted cream they have to be sampled! Really pleased that you felt welcome - it's... More

We visited here at Easter. I ordered the coronation chicken jacket potato and my husband had the ploughmans both big portions and tasted like what I'd get at my Nans (she was a good cook) true homecooked deliciousness. While we ate, there must have been 5 groups try to get a table but couldn't so they left unfortunately. I have... More

Lovely lunch for three of us, friendly service, went the extra mile for our baby and seemed like the popular place to be, having to turn some people away. Great value for what we had and the portions were good sized.

Tucked away in Stow, this cafe was exactly what we were looking for. The menu was full of home cooked favourites, really reasonable and delicious. Alan served us and he was the loveliest man, made us feel welcome and we had a bit of a laugh with him too. Would recommend to anyone!

Description
PLEASE NOTE: We will be CLOSED for 2 weeks from Wednesday 10th May, re-opening on MONDAY 22nd MAY. We are an owner operated traditional tearoom. Much of our menu is made here on the premises, including Soups, Dressings, Sauces, Jams and of course all of our cakes and scones. We make everything from basic ingredients, not pre prepared mixes. Our coffee and tea is Fairtrade. The coffee is freshly ground and we use loose leaf tea, with the exception of herbal teas.We aim to source our produce locally as we believe in supporting local suppliers where possible. We also provide a Gluten Free selection of meals, including homemade Gluten Free scones, so a cream tea can be had by everyone!Vegetarian options are always available. We are visited by many customers time and time again, along with strong support from locals who live in the town. Regular hours are 10am to 4.00Pm (5pm Saturdays). Please note we are closed on Sundays and Thursdays. Do ring to check if you are coming from a distance. Bookings for tables is welcomed and often necessary to guarantee a table. Parties catered for.
