Good choice, I had chilli paneer to start and garlic chilli chicken as a main. We also had garlic naan and samosas. The food was good, the service very good and quite unobtrusive which I like. Points deducted for 2 things: 1. My partners wood pigeon starter was very small and only had a minute amount of said bird. 2.... More

The short story is that we were a group of three with a booking. We arrived on time and had to wait 40 minutes to get our table because the restaurant was packed. Two of us had the mixed biryani and that made us ill the next day. That was a few weeks ago, but it bothered me so much... More

We eat out in Winchester a lot. We hadn't previously visited Gandhi, not sure why, but it was time to put that right. The restaurant has a big frontage and a good location opposite the Guildhall. We'd booked a table and were shown to our table. It was a concise menu with some interesting dishes; not really your typical Indian.... More

No trip to Winchester is complete without a meal in the Gandhi. It was four years since my last visit and Ronnie, the owner, remembered where I came from and even the dish I ate the last time. Impressive!!! The food and ambiance didn't disappoint. It is even better now that the restaurant has expanded. I had the beef cheek,... More

Celebrating the near end of our degree, the service was so personal, as always, and made the evening so much more special! The manager always makes extra effort to see every table! And treated us at the end as a congratulations to the end of the degree.

My wife and I visited on a Sunday evening while staying in the area. The welcome was friendly and the staff were very efficient and attentive, almost overly so. The menu contained a wide range of standard Indian restaurant dishes and some more unusual ones, hinting at a fine dining approach (wood pigeon, beef cheek, etc.), though some of the... More

Can't think of a busier Curry house on a Wednesday night and I've been to many up and down the country. It was bustling and the service and food was really good. Not the cheapest drinks but Ronnie was a welcome host. Thanks

We booked a table for 6 people on a Saturday night at 9:30pm when you might expect a restaurant to be less busy. It was rammed! - a true testament to how popular it is. We were sat down at the table they had ready for us and presented with a pile of popadoms and delicious chutneys. I've found other... More

We went to this restaurant on our recent stay in Winchester - didn't book but they found us a table and made us very welcome. We found the food very tasty and as my partner likes his curries very hot and spicy they obliged with fresh chillies! We found the portions were very generous really enjoyed our evening there!
