A very tasty Sunday lunch for a party of 10. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was excellent, we would really recommend this pub for a family gathering.

Great atmosphere and a fab beer garden. A good sun trap and great cider! A very popular pub, the beer garden was full!

We were a party of 12 for lunch on Mothers Day, three families who had not seen each other for years having a get together. There was nothing we could fault, very polite and friendly service, delicious lunch all delivered to the table at the same time which is was great considering we were a large party on a busy... I came here with colleagues for a mid-week meal. We've tried a lot of the restaurants in the centre of St Albans and came here as a change from the usual places. I'm really pleased we did! A very nice relaxed pub that does good food. I like that it's a pub first and restaurant second as it gives the... More

Popped into the White Lion for their Grill Week. Had the mixed grill of Gammon, Beef Rump, Lamb Steak, Kidneys and Sausage with my choice of sides ...Slaw and salad. Meat really tender and well cooked and all served with a smile too. What's not to like!!

I looked at several local options to celebrate Burns Night (not Scottish, but I'll celebrate anything), and decided on the White Lion, St Albans. We weren't disappointed! Warm black pudding salad and cullen skink were delicious staters! The venison stew, with mash and buttered leeks, which the visit was decided on, didn't disappoint. £15 for the 2 courses. I washed... Visited the White Lion in St Albans for a Christmas meal, from the first mouthful to the last the food was excellent (Pigeon Breast, followed by Game Pie and finished with a Blackberry Panna Cotta) and all for £24. The honey and almond biscuit severed with Panna Cotta was superb. What more do I need to say?

Last weekend we had a Sunday Roast at the White Lion and it was superb, not only the food, but the atmosphere and service as well. Off the back of that we have booked again this weekend for family from the states and Andrew is going out of his way to cater for a Vegan diet. Thank you so much.

This Pub was recommended by the Hosts of the B&B I was staying at. I arrived to find the chef was running late and the Guy behind the bar must have been new as he hardly knew where things were. I ordered the Scampi and it was overcooked and very dry. The chips were not that much better and the... More
