Truly wonderful meal and worth every penny of the £80/head. I had the mackerel/eel followed by the rabbit the missus had the Asparagus/Crab and then the Hake. Worth a treat every few months.

We visited for the tasting menu on a Saturday night. The waiting staff were all very attentive and there was a lovely atmosphere. The tasting menu was thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable. We had a slight hiccup with the pre-dessert, we were giving wine glasses with this dish but no wine appeared, apparently the wine flight only goes with some... More

Fantastic atmosphere, 5* service The food was impeccable as always and they were so accommodating as I have food allergies. It was quiet as it was a weekday, the servers made us feel special, well looked after and were very attentive.

The chef/owner produces an attractive and changing menu. The set menus are exceptional value as the cooking is cordon bleu. The wine list is not cheap but there are interesting wines and a good selection by the glass. We use it regularly for good, great value food. You can row the boat out for an occasion by going a la... Great restaurant serving modern British food. The service was excellent; attentive, friendly and efficient. The set lunch menu offers exceptional value for the quality of food and service provided. The main course portions are ample too, providing a filling meal at the same time as wonderful taste. Our daughter was very well looked after too, a child friendly restaurant. The... More

We were shocked to be served rancid butter with our bread which left a nasty after taste for the rest of the evening. Staff were pleasant however service was extremely slow due to a wedding party in another room. Speaking to a couple in our dining room that dine regularly at Thompsons they said it was most unusual for service... More

I received a `kitchen experience` voucher as a birthday present. This included 3 hours in the kitchen and lunch for two. The 3 hours in a professional kitchen were fascinating and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in cooking. The meal at the end that my wife and I enjoyed was great . The whole team, in the... More

This restaurant has a first class chef with outstanding experience, and it sets out to give a fine dining experience. The welcome and service was very good. Unfortunately what spoilt the enjoyment was that the hot main course was not served hot. It seems to me that the plates were not heated properly prior to serving the food, as a... More

Firstly it has to be said the whole of the staff here are amazingly warm and friendly. They are knowledgable about what they offer their diners - both food and drink. We went for the tasting menu which had an amazing range of varied dishes made even better as we combined items from both the standard and vegetarian options. The... More

We have been to Thompsons before on a number of occasions including Sunday lunch and it was delicious. Unfortunately not Mother's Day lunch. The red mullet starter was ok,the roast beef was chewy and hard to cut,had to ask for a steak knife which really should have been given to anyone eating beef. Vegetables were boring overlooked chantenay carrots and... More

Description
History: THOMPSON@Darcys the restaurant was formerly a row of four cottages predating the 2nd World War. The gates that flank the outside of the restaurant were produced by the Iron work shop here in 1979. The plot was finally converted to a restaurant in 1983.

Restaurant style: Today the restaurant offers a relaxed, fun and affordable fine dining experience. You will find us a modern, vibrant and busy restaurant, with each room offering a different feel and atmosphere without the pretence of formal dining.

What is Fine Dining? Fine dining usually brings dress code, etiquette and expensive to the forefront of most people’s minds. None of that applies to us at THOMPSON@Darcy’s, although we do have crisp, white tablecloths, at the request of our customers. However, OUR focus is the finest food and ingredients, creativity and taste sensations unique to THOMPSON@Darcy’s. Our service is attentive but not invasive, our staff impeccably mannered and our atmosphere relaxed, all of which contribute to an outstanding culinary experience, so that our guests leave feeling pampered and special.

Menus, Availability & Pricing: Our menus are ever changing, dictated by the seasons; Phil Thompson combines his classic training, culinary style and flavour combinations with his own modern twist.
