As someone from London it is super hard to come across a lovely quality country pub with quality food at good value. This place is it. Hidden away from the main town I was very excited when we pulled up. Having googled pubs near tunbridge wells this one popped up a lot.... it was amazing, the food, warmth, staff everything,... After trying to get a table at other restaurants we stopped by the George and Dragon on our way home. So pleased that everywhere else was full and the lovely team here managed to squeeze us in. The menu isn't extensive but sometimes that's a good thing. Lovely pub and great food. Long time since we've been here but we... More

Locals and other Brits will argue about what makes a great British pub, but for foreigners, the George and Dragon is the quintessential example. Built in the 13th century, it's dark and cosy inside but has a beer garden for the warmer months. The food was delicious, a menu of traditional and modern pub dishes and the beer was excellent.... My wife and I go to many restaurants and we can say that this was one of the best meals we've had for ages .starters, main and desert were all superb.. We go to restaurants that cost a lot more than here and the food was on par with these.staff were also brilliant

We visit this pub once every couple of months and have been consistently pleased with the food we receive, including this visit. However, on this occasion we were very disappointed to have finished our main course, and be told that if we wanted to order pudding, (yes please!) we'd have to wait 15 - 20 minutes before they would even... 4 of us, and a dog, went for lunch here, as part of our walk. The beer was lovely, and so was the food. It is at the upper end of the price range for pub food, but we had 3 different meals between us and agreed they were all good, and were value for money. The service was good... More

This is a wonderful old pub which I first visited many years ago. So when my friend and I found ourselves in the area we decided to call in for lunch. I'm very sorry to say it was a huge disappointment. We ordered the fish and chips (£13.95!). The fish wasn't cooked properly (cold in the middle) so it was... More

Visited this charming historic pub for our weekly crib and lunch. Good service and very pleasant staff. I can certainly recommend the beef vegetable in red wine pie.

I have been to the George and Dragon for many years, there are some things that never change, it is a wonderful building and it has also been under the same ownership for many, many years. What does change very regularly is the quality of food and service, sometimes it is superb, sometimes there is a dip and it is... More
