Recently visited this pub, the staff were so friendly especially the owners Tracey and Ade. The food was TO DIE FOR! had the special surf and turf, lobster cooked to perfection and steak to match. So impressed, I went back the next day for Sunday lunch.. The best pub food I've ever eaten by miles.. More like fancy restaurant food... More

We ate dinner here based on recommendation from our B&B and it was wonderful. As the pies are their specialty, we both ordered the day's special pies. The pies take 25 minutes to cook so we also ordered the whitebait and prawn cocktail as starters. Although we enjoyed every bite of our starters, we should have waited for the pies... More

We ate as a group of four and I must first of all say how lovely the pub is and how helpful our waiting staff were. The interior was warm and cosy with two open log fires and the pub has the traditional olde worlde atmosphere. However, we all ate Sunday lunch and had two dishes of lamb, one dish... More

Staying in the area for a few days and was recommended to eat at The Bell and to try their pies - which we did. We both had starters which was a mistake as the pies were huge and came with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and gravy; plus additional gravy was put on the table! The pies are cooked to order... More

Just happened to be passing, what a lovely pub . Tracy the land lady could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Her husband and staff made us feel as if we had been drinking there for years . We'll definitely being going back again .

We pulled in here on a very hot Friday afternoon. Instantly cooled down as there are lovely thick walls as you would expect. Not much choice of beers available, surprising on a Friday afternoon, but at least there was Shepherd Neame's Spitfire on, and a good example of the Landlords skills, and also Oranjeboom which pleased the wife. I had... More

This was a lovely surprise that we found by accident. A powercut in Biddenden forced us to drive on and we found ourselves in Smarden. They were very welcoming at the Bell and allowed us to take the dog into the restaurant. The food was great and the young man who served us was exceptionally polite and gave excellent customer... The Smarden Bell is great. One of our locals which we visit regularly. Worth a visit to see Sarah Jane's saucy outfits! She's great. Always accommodating, food good, nice garden, good selection of drinks. The staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and happy with your visit. Well worth stopping by.
