Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and great lunch. Had parsnip and apple soup then made it myself at home because I liked it so much. Usually resist cake in most places but not here. Coffee and Walnut cake delicious and big enough to share with my husband. Been a few times and have never been disappointed.

Whilst visiting Grasmere we chanced upon this garden centre type thing. Upon entering we were greeted by the gentle aromas coming from the eating area, known as the Potting Shed. Upon further investigation I found something on the menu I'd had many years previously but had failed since to find any. The source of my happiness was Toasted Cinnamon and... More

Lovely hot soup; delicious quiche and salad. Reasonable selection of food and interesting garden and gift shopping.

After a look around the grassmere village shop we popped into the cafe. After having had to repeat myself many times to the member of staff behind the till who struggled to understand English, they finally took my order. 2 Americano and coffee and walnut cake. Both were very nice. The other items on the menu looked good.

Great cafe. Often call in for breakfast. Can highly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on thick cut granary toast.

Called in for coffee and cakes was very tasty but pricey and the smallest coffee cups ever felt quite short changes!!! Cafe was however a nice place to sit with plenty of tables on the patio for when the weather is decent

We arrived for a light lunch and ordered fish and chip and pea and ham soup with tea and coffee, the meals came quite quick and the fish was soaked in fat with frozen hip dry as a bone, the soup was going to be home made but hadn't seen any ham ,very disappointed and overrated for the cost over £20,another example... A lovely building and very friendly staff The menu was fairly basic but the food did come quickly It was a little on the expensive side for what we got However a massive plus was that its dog friendly (as is 99% of Grasmere) and we were able to spread out a bit to allow our dog to get comfortable... The Potting shed is in fact a large conservatory-type structure on two levels attached to a garden centre. It lacks atmosphere. We came for tea after a 10km walk and were not greatly impressed. The tea was weak despite much stirring. Scone and jam was good. Ginger cake was somewhat dry. There are better places in the immediate area.
