Me and my girlfriend decided to travel to Kendal for a day out with nothing planned at all. We used Trip Advisor to be able to see what was around us for food and we found Vats Bar! Coming from busy Manchester, it was refreshing to see somewhere like Vats. The view was epic, the food was even better and... More

The Vats bar is a lovely location and I usually visit it before a concert or seeing a film. The food was average, I had pizza, the wholewheat base was not really to my liking and the cheese topping had a grainy/dusty texture (may be from the floury pizza base) this spoils the pizza for me. The sweet was delicious,... More

Always a good and varying selection of real ales. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pizzas are well known to locals, and are really excellent. There's a larger room to eat in, and also plenty of outdoor seating in good weather.

Such a lovely setting when the weather's right to sit outside. Tonight we tried the infamous fresh rolled pizzas and were not disappointed. Great friendly service received by all of the abundant staff on duty. Had an issue with pot of tea not being hot, young male server was most apologetic and instantly whipped it away and changed it; problem... More

Always a great place to eat when we visit Kendal - we often meet up with family there, even had my Dad's 80th birthday do there.

Service very slow, no atmosphere but lovely designed pub with some comfy seats. It should have been bumping but it was quiet and the waiters didn't smile. :)

This is a lively place, with seating carved out of massive beer barrels, comfy sofas and massive oak beams. Situated next to the Grainstore Restaurant, you can order from the main menu and enjoy the rather more informal bar atmosphere. A great meeting place before a film or gig and always buzzing. Food options include freshly made pizzas and excellent... More

I was working in Kendal and had an evening to entertain myself so booked for a film and went to Vats Bar first. Service was very friendly. Pizza I thought was excellent. Glass of house red was very quaffable. I liked the surroundings which are conducive to a relaxed meal.

Thanks for the lovely review. Our pizza's are a favourite with our customers. The wine comes from our fantastic local wine merchants, Stainton Wines. More

There's a great choice of eating and drinking at the Brewery - something for every taste. The Brewery has somewhere to eat all day, every day of the week. In the Day: The Warehouse: a relaxed lounge, serving a range of drinks from Farrer's specialty teas to bottles of local Hawkshead ale. It also serves the best latte in town. Eat locally made cakes, homemade scones and soups. In the Evening: The Vats Bar & Grainstore: Our extraordinary bar and restaurant serve a range of superb beers, wines and spirits and serve the famous Brewery Pizzas and our fabulous 'Brewery Tapas'. The Vats and Grainstore are bustling, off-beat, friendly venues and should be part of any night out in the 'Auld Grey Town'.
