In Kendal regularly for meetings & often pop in the cafes for lunch & was stunned to pay £8 for a prawn sandwich & a Diet Coke. My colleagues jacket potato was equally expensive. I felt that we were being charged as "visitors" which is really poor. There are far better/cheaper cafes in town.

i am sorry to hear that you think it was too expencive but we do give out menus to read that state the price quite clearly. also we dont discriminate "visitors" from "locals" everybody pays the same. you should have known the price before placing your order! our prices do reflect our produce which is all local and fresh home... Came across this quaint little cafe on a trip to Kendal and boy am I glad I did! I had the tomato and red pepper soup (obviously home made) which was absolutely delicious - a sweet and tangy tasting soup, and tuna mayo sandwiches - this combo was £5.50. I read an article about the cafe which was on the... More

Just stopped off for a bite to eat and had jacket potatoes and coffee. The service was good and the food was great quality for the price. I would definitely stop by again.

Found this on a visit to Kendal. Don't bother with Costa go here instead. The food was great, reasonably priced and loads of gluten free stuff too. Well recommended.

Was in the lakes for a wedding and came accross this lovely little cafe. Serves some classics such a fish and chips, and has a good variety of home cooked pies. I had a turkey baguette with stuffing and gravy and it was absolutely amazing, totally hit the spot! Good coffee and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly reccomended for lunch!

We came to the Cottage Kitchen during the kendal mountain festival - about 10 mins before they were about to shut up shop on a sunday! Despite what must have been a busy day for them, the staff welcomed us in and served us awesome pies with flaky pastry, and mushie peas, followed by cake. ALL of their pies/cakes/pastries are... Myself and my partner ate there this lunchtime, a cosy very clean little cafe which is bigger on the inside than you think. I ordered the burger with cheese, bacon and onion rings my partner the standard breakfast. When the food arrived which was after a short wait, the burger was enormous. .!!.my partner was annoyed he'd not had the... More
