Extremely satisfying

We visited this great restaurant when it first opened 2years ago and have found the high standard of service and exellent food to to be exactly the same as it was then upon every visit. We normaly have the tapas but decided to have Mousaka and the Lamb shoulder yesterday served with rice and bowl of chips.They were both outstanding especially the lamb -it was really tender with a very tasty tomato based sauce.Very filling if your hungry, in fact most of the chips were left as we couldnt finish them! Served with two bottles of Kopperberg cider in highly clean glasses with the appropriate fruit to complement the flavour for £40 for both of us is great value by our estimation for a city restaurant of this standard. (Anyone who finds price an issue at this establishment must be used to eating out of a dustbin or a greasy cafe bar somewhere..seriously ) The manager Stefano couldnt be more helpful if he tried and the staff are so polite and courteous always. Best Greek Food Ever!

Wow. The flavours in this food! Yum yum yum. We enjoyed a delicious 2 course delicious dinner, which was served by very friendly and attentive staff. The early bird menu offering a starter and a main for just under £14 - what great value considering the portion sizes we're very generous. Mini Hot Mezze to share started us off with the best Halloumi we've ever tasted. Mains consisted of Moussaka for me and Grilled Chicken Souvla for the other half and again these did not disappoint with explosions of flavour. I'd even go as far to say that the Moussaka was even better than any I've had in Greece.

I had booked for a party of six for 3rd April due to us attending the Grand National. The restaurant asked for a deposit of 60 pound which I was happy to do (I never expected to have to cancel). I was told at the time that this was non refundable. However due to the coronavirus I rang to cancel. The gentleman on the end of the phone couldn't have been more helpful and refunded the money into my account immediately. Five star service. Cheers.

We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and the staff were happy to explain the items on the menu which was great as I couldn’t make up my mind! The three of us chose vegetable dolmades, cheesy garlic bread and tahini and hot bread to start. They were all very tasty. The vine leaves were very tasty and out of this world, the tahini was the nicest tahini I have ever had. My son chose the special kebab as his main - lamb kebab, chicken kebab, lamb chops and halloumi. My mum chose the lamb kebab and as I couldn’t make up my mind, the waiter suggested I tried kleftico- roasted shoulder of lamb in a tomato based sauce and I am glad he recommended it. It literally fell apart when I touched it with my fork and it was so tasty. I couldn’t finish it though. All our meals came with rice and hand made ‘proper’ chips which were lovely. My son ate all his and my mum filled herself up with the starters so couldn’t really eat much of her kebab at all- she always does this!! Anyway, the waitress offered to put it in a takeaway box for her and she took it home to have later on!! It was a very muggy day when we went and there was a thunderstorm while we were there but the decor and the air conditioning meant we were lovely and cool and felt like we could have been a million miles away as it was warmly lit and the scenic pictures reminded me of being in Greece! The restaurants was absolutely spotless too. I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Outstanding restaurant

My wife and I just had an amazing early dinner at the Greek Taverna and we can’t fault a thing. I had the battered whitebait followed by the special mixed kebab and my wife had meatballs followed by the chicken kebab. She’s usually a very fussy eater and eating out with her can be challenging but we both have nothing but praise for both the food and service. All staff were friendly and attentive and we felt really well looked after. What a pity we don’t live locally.

Excellent food in comfortable and welcoming surroundings. Service was attentive without being intrusive and we were made to feel as though we were visiting as old friends rather than for the first time. We thoroughly recommend this place - Greek Taverna - to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and rewarding dining experience. ✨

Lovely staff and lovely food

Four of us sat down for a meal, one vegan, one vegetarian, and two “normal “. We all had meals that were absolutely lovely provided by staff who were attentive but not overly so. I would thoroughly recommend This place, Well worth a try!

We visited on a busy Saturday without booking and were lucky to have got a table!. So glad we did though the food was amazing the best Hoummas on the cold Meze starter I've eaten. We had chicken kebabs (chicken was cooked to perfection) meatballs the sauce was so flavoursome. Now we like a good portion of food and we definatly got it here the portion sizes are very generous! Service was exceptional every member of staff was attentive friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Would recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Best Moussaka ever !!!

We went to the restaurant last night as a family group of 7 , to celebrate 2 birthdays. What a brilliant restaurant. The atmosphere, the ambience, the staff ( the lovely waiter with the glasses particularly ) and the food especially. We had dips and bread to start - delicious. Most of the group had lamb and chicken , served with rice , salad and amazing chips. They also did a haloumi dish for the veggie in the group. I had the moussaka, absolutely amazing , firm , tender and so tasty , just like I have had in a little taverna in Chania -loved it. Then I was the only one to be greedy and have a dessert, which was also lovely , paklava / baklava. We all had house wine , red and white , which were good. Then we finished with tea and coffee , and metaxa brandy. Would 200 % recommended. I can't wait to go back 😊

The food was absolutely delicious. It was my birthday and they made note of that. At the end of our meal the lights went off and they sang happy birthday to me with music in the background and a tambourine. It was such a lovely surprise. There was a few of us and every single one of us said that the food was delicious. I completely recommend this restaurant for anyone that visits Liverpool. The customer service was 10 out of 10. Soon as someone left the restaurant, the cleaning was 100% and fast.

Staff go round ‘encouraging’ diners to put 5 star reviews on here!

Staff: This is why it’s : not 4 stars. I felt a distinct lack of genuineness from the staff. The guy on the door was lovely but from there it became a bit false. The woman behind the bar was constantly gazing at herself in the mirror opposite the bar. The man who brought the food was sarcastic but the worst was the man going round with a QR code and telling people what to write on trip adviser. There and then. I think they got a discount for giving 5 stars!!! He even grabbed someone’s phone and seemed angry the review was in another language!!! He then made her translate. It was soooo awful. Also was very rushed. They are very busy but who wants to feel like you’re being an inconvenience for not rushing your food? Twice our plates were tried to be removed just because we weren’t physically eating! Food: Good. Big portions so don’t have a starter if you want to finish your main. Chips and rice are amazing. Drinks: Good. Overall? I wouldn’t bother. There’s loads of nice restaurants down Bold Street.

Our first meal since lockdown, and it couldn’t have been better. The food was just gorgeous, served with rice and homemade chunky chips, everything was piping hot and the service was second to none. Will definitely be returning!

COVID friendly night out

Went Tuesday 25th August when the eat out to help out was applicable. Booked in advance the restaurant was well prepared for keeping guests safe The food and service did not disappoint even though it was fully booked. Would definitely return when in Liverpool. Well worth a visit

Beautiful food and fantastic staff

Visited this restaurant for the first time, we opted for the early bird menu and chose butterbeans and calamari for the starter and spanakopita and kleftico for mains. All were absolutely beautiful and the wine was also delicious. We will be returning!
