Recently refurbed but keeps the character of an old school curry house with booths! Huge chutney tray with the addition of desiccated coconut and spicy sauce, an extensive menu with all the usual faves but some more different and Bangladeshi specialities too. Massive portions and some lovely desserts on offer too but no room in my belly sadly. Bonus points for going above and beyond with mocktails and cocktails, it's unusual to see such nice drinks in an Indian restaurant but these were beautifully presented in lovely glassware with garnishes. Friendly staff too and excellent customer service. Can't wait for a repeat visit

Great food, great service.
Being from Manchester we have great Indian cuisine so my standards are always high. This didn’t disappoint the food was amazing- highly recommend the chutney tray due to the coconut option it was stunning.
The chef has been there over 20yrs and their dishes are authentic.
Service was just as authentic from a local point of view - Marcus was from Liverpool so this place feels part of the city and he was passionate to give guests the best friendly experience!

Came for my dad’s birthday. The team were really helpful as soon as we booked and sorted us a cake without us needing to ask. They also played us a song we requested and were very friendly and helpful throughout the night. The food itself was delicious - all five of us enjoyed everything we ordered. Brilliant place, very welcoming environment with some very nice food and drinks at a pretty decent price. Will definitely be coming back here again at some point. Marcus our server was a right laugh and saw to anything needed throughout our dinner, definitely made the experience more enjoyable as a whole.

Despite living quite close we hadn't been before but after hearing good things we decided to give it s go and we weren't disappointed! The staff were all brilliant, answering questions about the menu, checking if we wanted our daughters food to come with the starters or mains and just generally being friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic. Between 4 of us we got 3 mains, 1 rice and 2 nans and there was so much food! All tasted incredible too. We will definitely be back!

We’ve been dining at Light of Bengal for many years since moving to the area, and it remains our go-to place whenever we fancy an Indian meal, whether dining in or getting takeaways. The food is consistently delicious, bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly cooked.
We always order the same menu: lamb tikka biryani and lamb exotica, and they never disappoint. The rich, flavorful dishes are a testament to the quality and consistency of the cuisine.
The waiting staff are brilliant, providing top-notch service every time. Special mention goes to Marcus, who goes above and beyond to ensure our dining experience is exceptional.
If you’re looking for an outstanding Indian dining experience, look no further than Light of Bengal. Highly recommended!

Food was so nice. Ordered the special lamb chop dish, lamb sagwalla, mushroom rice, paratha, peshwari Nan and bhindi Baji. All the dishes were tasty, not oily but I have to say the bhindi baji (okra) was amazing. Couldn’t stop eating it!
All the staff were very polite. The restaurant is immaculately clean. Even after diners had left the staff were cleaning chairs and tables thoroughly. Very good sized portions. Reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

I came here with my family to have a late birthday meal and every one was so friendly and helpful. The staff were lovely and the food delicious. Very nice clean bathrooms with baby changing table. I had the Kashmiri and it was beautiful, took the rest home for my supper

This is our local Indian restaurant & we have never had a bad meal in all the years we have been.
Visited Boxing Day with family & had a great meal, always a great choice & it’s never too much for them when you ask for something not on the menu. Highly recommend a visit

Visited Light of Bengal for our Anniversary, it was also the first time we had been. I really recommend this fantastic Indian restaurant. The food was a different league, huge portions and so tasty, the staff were friendly and attentive. We went on a sunday evening, we booked on their website and would recommend doing this as there were not many empty tables which is also a good sign. Definitely coming back, well worth it.

Not a great meal at all.
Absolutely average or rather less than average curries, chips were fresh from the freezer. Far far better from a takeaway.
Strawberry daiquiri tasted like it was pre prepared with no effort put into it a all. May as well have had a mocktail.
Extremely overpriced, in fact tried to charge me for a drink we hadn't ordered.
I would definitely not recommend or re visit

Hi thanks for your comment and so sorry that you have had bad experience at LOB. First of all I remember that your table was booked for Saturday which was extremely busy I hope you have seen that too and as soon as my staff brought me the bill with wrong amount we sorted it strategy away and sent it back to you with apologies. On a busy night like Saturday mistakes can be happen by staffs and again we’re very sorry about that. And about overpricing we’re actually average priced and people have been loving us since last 27 years for same food, same chef and same quality . If you felt the chips weren’t good enough we could change it straight away and just to let you know that our oil temperature are taken every 2 hours to make sure customers get proper piping hot food. We’re happy to refund you ALL your bill please get in touch with us. Again thanks for your visit

Me and my partner attended here for the most unbelievable Indian meal we’ve had! We got poppadoms and a chutney tray and shared pakoras to start. We then got chicken tikka masala,lamb rogan Josh with pilau rice,chips and a garlic naan. All the food was so hot and so fresh. Shout out to our waiter Marcus who had a lovely bubbly personality and helped out picking from the menu! Will definitely return.
Our bill came to £57 with a pint and a Diet Coke which is so reasonable!

Excellent food with lovely service from really friendly staff. This was our first visit but we would definitely come back! Would recommend the prawn puri starter, the bread and bhuna sauce were delicious :)
