A traditional pub so traditional that financial City traders have their own breakfast special on the menu (though the size of it would challenge your oversized American football player). Today it has a wonderful atmosphere, great drinks, wonderful food, a boutique hotel upstairs and private...More

Made a reservation here in person at the pub for a family Sunday lunch the following day, only to be told when arriving at lunchtime that following day, after walking across London in cold, wet snow, that we had no reservation. Of course the guy...More

Came with a group, and we had oped for the £35/head Christmas Feast menu. For these prices, I had expected a dedicated seating area in a pleasant environment. Instead, our table was right next to the bar, while the place was extremely loud, cramped, and...More

Even for London this pub charges silly prices - when challenged barman admitted ‘we are one of the more expensive pubs’. It is basically a corridor - even going with 3 others is a challenge. Good selection of cask ales in good condition and god...More

So, on our way home, we stopped for a night cap at the Fox and Anchor. A nice Shiraz for me and Irish Coffee for herself. And David, ace Irish Coffee maker, met her high (Irish) expectations to perfection.

One must certainly visit and see it, at least! The exterior is exceptional, and the interior quite traditional and cosy. Though I'm no expert, I suspect this is one of the better surviving traditional London pubs in fairly original condition. We reserved, and got one...More

Hi, the team at the Fox & Anchor are all pleased you had such a good time with us while staying near by.

Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site
of an ancient meat market which remains in operation
today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally
renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and
some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a
focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough
time wondering through the area's maze of streets and
you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky
