My daughter and I went as a birthday treat which it definitely was, we were greeted by a lovely doorman who pointed us in the right direction and my daughter was immediately in love with the decor, it is truly stunning, the staff are first class, nothing is too much trouble but they are funny and warm, without being OTT,... I was lucky enough to get a voucher for my birthday and we attended as a family. Situated in the Palm Court with intermittent background piano music, it was relaxed and very elegant. With a selection of 18 different teas, six different sandwich fillings/breads, scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve and, finally, an assortment of pastries and cakes, you... More

Afternoon tea is alright, nothing special at all. The surroundings and settings are amazing no doubt but the afternoon tea overall is just alright. Sandwiches alright, avoid the ham and mustard as the mustard is just way to overpowering. All the ham and mustard got left as none of our party could eat them :( Scones are beautiful, served warm.... Nice but too expensive for what they offer I went in once with my bike shoes! They parked my bike next to rolls royce! Other time they didnt let my hubby in with boss sports shoes... they were not runners just sportive style and I found it ridiculous when months before I got in with my bike shoes!!!

Went for afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. We had a fantastic time. The food and tea was amazing. Great service and reasonably priced for what you were getting. You just need to book 4 months in advance. Will go again.

Traditional afternoon tea at the Ritz was nice. Impressive decor, attentive service and live musician, made for a great girly afternoon. We were able to top up our cake and sandwich selections and left quite full. I was however a little disappointed with the selection on their cake trolley which only had 2 options that were not that incredible. We... More

My family take afternoon tea seriously. We can cook and we love wonderful food. So for a treat we decided to all gather for afternoon tea at the Ritz which we expected to be spectacular. Sadly it was not. It was not terrible, it just was not the best. On the plus side, the waiting staff were excellent. There were... More

We've had afternoon tea at many venues in both London and Dublin. The Ritz truly is the best quintessential experience we've had to date. Fair warning that a dress code exists at this restaurant. Men are required to wear a suit jacket and a tie.

Another item on the Bucket List to be ticked off! We've been meaning to try the afternoon tea for many years and with our Pearl Wedding Anniversary coming up we decided to go ahead and make a reservation (in December) for April. Everything lived up to our expectations and we would recommend the experience. The service was faultless and the... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
