My wife's 50th birthday was approaching fast and enquiringly of friends how best to celebrate the occasion for a lady that doesn't go too much on parties. Many of my female friends suggested taking her to afternoon tea in London and perhaps taking in a show as well. One then suggested perhaps she might like The Ritz. Appreciating its popularity,... After reading great reviews and it being one of my must try places for afternoon tea (I'm slightly obsessed with afternoon teas) I couldn't wait to go. The hotel and room itself is fabulous but on the flip side felt like we were packed in like sardines, compared with other spacious places I have been. I felt rushed from the... More

I visited The Ritz for Afternoon Tea recently. It was a very lovely experience for a treat. Upon arrival we was greeted very politely and shown to the cloak room. The staff were absolutely lovely and so welcoming. The champagne was yummy and the sandwiches, cakes and scones were beautiful. I actually didn't think it looked a lot but it... More

We went here for my friend's birthday, and it was nothing short of impressive. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the venue was absolutely breathtaking, and the food and tea were high quality. We had two vegan girls in our party, and the staff was very informative, and presented them with the proper substitutions. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKING A... More

My husband and I gave our daughter a voucher for a champagne afternoon tea at the Ritz for her last birthday and she very kindly asked me to accompany her. The only booking available for our chosen day was at 1.30pm as it was a fairly last-minute decision but we did not feel rushed, even though the next sitting was... More

We booked this for a 50th Birthday celebration. It is everything you expect. Yes you can get afternoon tea cheaper but having "Tea at the Ritz" trumps them all.

A great British tradition. Afternoon tea at the Ritz. The building and tea room has beautiful architecture and decor while the waiters were smart, polite and efficient. The finger sandwiches were okay as were the scones and cakes but despite wonderful descriptions didn't quite hit the high standard expected. It is more of a triumph of style over substance but... Great afternoon at the Ritz for tea. The room is beautiful with great service. The food was good but not great, its really about the experience. We added champagne for the celebration. Recommend booking on line ahead of time.

A British institution in itself, Tea at The Ritz is proud to be a member of the Tea Council's prestigious Tea Guild. Served in the spectacular Palm Court, a choice of several varieties of tea, finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream and a range of delicate pastries, combine to make for an unforgettable afternoon. The luxurious and graceful setting of The Ritz Palm Court is legendary and this is most certainly an opportunity that must be experienced, whether you are visiting London or already live there. Reflecting the elegant nature of the hotel's architecture The Ritz London has a dress code in different areas of the hotel as follows: Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie for afternoon tea in The Palm Court and for lunch and dinner in The Ritz Restaurant. In all other areas of the hotel (The Ritz Restaurant breakfast service, The Rivoli Bar, The Long Gallery) and The Ritz Club, smart casual attire is suitable. Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
