We came to The Sussex for a last drink before going our seperate ways home. It was rammed, being Saturday night. Service was bad, maybe because the music was so loud you couldn't hear what you were saying, let alone what they were saying to you. Guinness was off which just left lager on tap. Drinks were very expensive. Four... More

Really, the worst pub I have ever been in!!! Moron in the bowler hat acted as if he was the star of the show, very rude, and served me a pint of ale (1730) , which was off, but was beyond him to help..on top of the extortionate prices, this easily counts as arm pit of London...

Good place to watch sports. Good food. But the service was kind of bad and the beer selection was nothing impressive.

This little gem in covent garden really is a must the dining area downstairs is very quiet and clean staff are attentive. Food is fast but without feeling rushed. The food was also hot and fresh when it arrived to our table can't recommend this place enough

We were looking for a place to have lunch and found this place with a sign outside advertising their fish and chips menu item. The inside is fairly small but very 'old pub like'. We ordered the fish chips and were served fairly quickly. They come with a bed of freshly cooked peas that were excellent. They did not seem... More

Food was good, service was good. Beer only OK, although has a reasonable selection, Guinness badly poured - too much head and not left long enough to settle before topping off. Felt that with a bit more effort this could be a really good London Pub.

Walking past the other day, decided to go in for a pint, this proved to be a bit difficult as there were only three people in the pub and no one serving, I noticed that someone was cleaning the menu's (LOL), they should have been cleaning the disgusting toilets, so after a few minutes I went over to him and... This place has the best location, good food, and a large variety of drinks/beers. However - the toilet is HORRIBLE, and has been like this last couple of years. Needs a major upgrade !!

The barman got distracted after asking me for what drink i wanted, wondering off leaving me to wait till the people behind were served. They then tried to charge me for a large wine without offering a choice of size. The mulled wine was awful. The staff were terrible and the toilets not nice. Will definitely NOT be coming back... The Sussex in Covent Garden is a traditional London pub. You'll find us on Upper St Martins Lane, where Covent Garden connects to Leicester Square. Our menu is in the best tradition of British pub food. Best enjoyed with a drink, friends and always with a warm welcome. The area where the Sussex pub is situated has been a recognised thoroughfare since Saxon times. In Roman times this area also connected Westminster to the City of London. During the reign of King John (1199-1216) Long Acre was recorded as the northern boundary of the Covent Garden of the monks of St. Peter's Abbey. Over the years the area has been home to royalty, cartwrights and fruiterers in addition to famous names such as Nicholas Stone the sculptor, Oliver Cromwell and John Dryden. Today the area is still a bustling hub of activity connecting Covent Garden to Leicester Square. Our downstairs bar with a capacity of up to 100 is available to hire for private parties and functions. The team at the Sussex look forward to welcoming you!
