Our hotel suggested the restaurant and we were a bit hesitant when we got there, as it seemed very modern and upscale for the simple late nite dinner we wanted. However from the friendly hostess to the various members of the wait staff we came in contact with, all were very nice, empathetic and knowledgeable. The pasta with truffles, the... More

My wife and I returned here after an underwhelming first visit. On our first trip we really enjoyed the food however the service was sub par. On our return visit however the food was even better than the first time and the service was exceptional. From when we first arrived nothing missed a beat. The food was stunning, we had... More

The service was excellent. As was the food, we had a fantastic valentines meal. The only down side was that we arrived early to get a drink at the bar, and it took so long. To counter this, we were given appetisers which were great. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic and more than happy to make recommendations, which is a... More

Put on your sunnies, this place is very minimalist, bright and white! On arrival we had drinks, snacks and canapes while we waited for the table. Then we we were sat on the mezzanine, which is a slightly raised and sectioned off area of the restaurant but not private. The food is just fantastic. I had octopus and nduja to... More

Went there for my 40th birthday. The food, service and the hospitality was just amazing. They made every effort to make us feel comfortable and relaxed. Even on our way out the staff didn't forget to congratulate my birthday. It might sound a bit silly but these small nuances/gestures makes the whole difference. It is clearly visible that there is... I can't criticise the food or service but the clinical dining room leaves the whole experience a little lacking. I had a wonderful crab starter and pasta and langoustine main. Nice wine list. I will be back and just need to accept the style.

Some pretty good food let down by some less than average service. We were left waiting for ten minutes in our coats even though the restaurant was practically empty. Had to ask four times for some non nut nibbles but none ever turned up. They forgot to bring a dish, started clearing plates while some people were still eating. All... More

Upon entering the restaurant one immediately notices that it is a classy restaurant. We went for lunch and it was packed. The food was excellent as was the presentation and the wine list was also very good. Not on the cheap side but neither very expensive . Expect to pay around 100 sterling for a three course meal and wine.... More

I had pasta with wild boar as a starter and veal as a main. Superb taste & presentation and excellent service. Recommended.

L'anima used to be one of my favourite places for client lunches. A while ago there was talk of a Michelin star. However, my recent visit was a bit of a disappointment. It feels like the Michelin star didn't happen and the restaurant is having a grand old sulk about it. The venue is very modern. The dining room is... More

An award-winning Italian restaurant in the City, L'Anima offers modern Italian cuisine in an effortlessly elegant setting. Serenity prevails in the dining room, with a muted earthy colour palette and swatches of plush white leather offset by glistening floor-to-ceiling glass. Using premium ingredients to craft simple yet bold flavours, head chef Lello's menu takes influence from Sardinia, Puglia and Sicily, while the L'Anima bar offers boutique Italian wines and famous aperitifs.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
