We went for a girls dinner on a Friday night after we saw a special offer for a 3 course meal and half a bottle of wine. As there were 3 of us we had a glass of prosecco to start and a bottle of...More

We shared a table for ten, and all enjoyed the quality traditional fare. The pies were a stand out. The chips were however a little cold. The service was attentive. Overall a good choice for a large group.

I was at the Mercer for a business dinner for two. quite a disappointment. While the restaurant made it at no point in time to a seat load factor beyond 50% that evening, the waitress had checking me in. No idea why as the name...More

First visit and initial impressions were a little drab atmosphere. Three very large Christmas trees in the windows totally under dressed with both lights and baubles. Lighting in the restaurant was dull, not dim and atmospheric but dull. Had the first drink in the bar...More

The Mercer is very attractive visually. Elegant restaurant that is reminiscent of a Parisian braserie yet menu is very traditionally British food- food is good quality but very 'safe'. Service efficient but 'mechanical'. Better options for dining in area.

We had the whole main room reserved for a group of around 40 people. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, the service was great, and the food was excellent. I am not sure how it is for ‘regular’ people (ie not en masse visitors) but...More

Went there for a business meeting and it’s a good environment for that. Good drinks in a nice environment and good atmosphere. The food was more of traditional English food and if you don’t like english food you’ll be disappointed otherwise it’s an ok choice.

Lunch for about 60 in a room on the first floor. A bit crowded as we had drinks in the same room beforehand. Beef main course was delicious. Service was excellent. Mirrors all around the room were a bit disconcerting!
