We dropped by for some lunch and a beer and was pleased with the pub itself, the food was lovely although the beer that I was poured looked like an apple juice. I've been poured some rank beers before but this topped it, the couple after weren't much better although had more gas in so a little bit more management... More

It's right off Trafalgar Square, so that's the big selling feature. Great spot to stop for lunch when you're touring the area. Good selection of drinks (try the Old Speckled Hen) and the food is a bit better than average. The Fish & Chips with Cod is a favorite.

We left it late to find a venue to watch the rugby from on Saturday 11 March. The staff were very helpful and we had a table right in front of one of the TVs screens. As we were eating in the evening we just had drinks and peanuts but the food being served (particularly the pies) seemed to be... More

I recently spent some time in the Trafalgar Square area during a business trip. I returned to the neighborhood because my hotel was nearby. I chose not to eat there but found the Silver Cross. The interior of the pub was inviting and large. The patrons had not started to show up for lunch, so I placed an early order... More

Location is hard to beat right of Traflaga square. But foot is pricey for what you get and just ok . Not bad. Plenty of beer and lots of people add atmosphere but justbok

After walking over 20,000 steps, we popped into the pub for a pint. Great location - easily accessible from Buckingham Palace and Westminster areas. Good time.

The pub was clean and tidy with nice decor so we decided to order traditional roast beef Sunday lunch. The food was truly appalling. We had two very thin slices of beef (well actually more fat and gristle). The roast potatoes were of the frozen variety and not freshly cooked, the Yorkshire pudding flat and soggy as it it had... I've used the Silver Cross as a meeting and drinking point many times and have always found it ok. Yesterday we made the mistake of eating there and instantly regretted it. The rolled up crisp packets left in the condiments tray on the table should have been a warning but we ordered anyway. I had the wagyu beef burger. Regrettably... More

Great fish and chips but too expensive! This was a self-order and deliver at table establishment. The sampler platter was very large portion and was quite good. Nice atmosphere. Very touristy.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
