The hotels restaurant offers a decent selection to choose from with a very high quality of service. Everything is stylishly prepared and tastes wonderful. The staff are very attentive and take care of all your needs, even to the point of specially preparing something for you if it's not on the menu, as they did for us. A must go... More

My husband and I visited The Rubens at the Palace for our one year wedding anniversary. This had great reviews online and seeing we both enjoy afternoon tea, we thought why not! I wouldn't overly rate it. I would rate the staff 8/10 as they were friendly and made us feel welcome. We were an hour early for our 3:30... More

Was given a Afternoon Tea Voucher as a gift at the Rubens and went there as a treat on our wedding anniversary. Was not disappointed, the staff upon finding out it was our Anniversary gave us a complimentary glass of Champagne each which was a really nice gesture. As for the tea it was a really good one. My wife... More

The hotel was very nice, but our room was a bit dated, which surprised me for the cost of the room. There was no wi-fi in our room when we first arrived; however, a tech guy was sent up and he fixed the issue very quickly. If you want to be close to Buckingham Palace and/or the Royal Mews, you... Took our mothers for afternoon tea on a recommendation from a friend - and was not disappointed. Booked for 1 o'clock on Sunday - don't go any early as we were the first ones. But do say "hello" to the Doorman as he's a delight and a credit to the hotel. The waiters were very friendly and courteous coped fabulously... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Rubens. Directly across from the Mews, the Queen's stables, the Rubens is in a great location. A five-minute walk to Buckingham Palace, close to the tube, good but pricey breakfast, nice bar, and attentive service. Lovely experience for our first trip to London.

Lovely afternoon spent at The Rubens for Sunday Afternoon Tea. Waiting Staff were excellent which resulted in excellent service, food - tiny sandwiches, scones, cakes - was scrumptious and the variety of teas was amazing. My family and friends really appreciated being in a room on our own - made the afternoon even more special for me. Nothing at all... More

The Rubens at the Palace is located on London's Buckingham Palace Road and plays home to the Rubens restaurants. The Old Masters' Restaurant serves some of London's finest traditional cooking, including a sensational rib of Aberdeen Angus with Yorkshire pudding and a mouth-watering buffet laden with delicious dishes. This grand carvery and grill room oozes old-world charm and elegance. The Library Restaurant serves award-winning modern British food in an intimate, relaxed environment with comfortable armchairs and a traditional-style decor. Its 2 AA Rosette standard cuisine features signature dishes including Cornish scallops or a delectable combination of Irish and Scottish salmon carved at your table and followed by New Forest venison or Dedham Vale fillet of beef. The Palace Lounge follows through from the Cavalry Bar and is a magnificent bright open space with views of the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's stables. This is a great vantage point from which to spot the passing pageantry, a daily occurrence being so close to the palace! Guests love to enjoy an afternoon tea and watch the world go by, or at night a liqueur in one of the cosy armchairs. In the evenings, a pianist provides lively music and entertainment, helping guests relax and unwind in friendly surroundings.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
