I dined with colleagues in the Pig and Goose, The George's 'fine dining' restaurant for our office's Christmas lunch. The food I had was great (particularly the Cauliflower & Blacksticks blue velouté) and others said the same - although we found it a bit odd that we had to ask for bread to go with starters. That said when we... More

An unplanned visit on new years eve, left us wanting to return here when visiting London the next time, we were looking for a drink and snack before descending to watch the fireworks and this place hit the spot. We sampled the home made Sausage rolls & Scotch eggs which were probably the best I have ever had. A great... More

We visited this pub as part of our pre-Christmas holiday. We had tickets to the "Lion King" and this pub/restaurant is conveniently close. I'd been to the bar in this pub a few times as I am a frequent visitor to London and I knew that it was a busy pub but I'd never been to the restaurant. On the... More

The main Pig and Goose restaurant on the 1st floor was full but the bar staff found us a table in the lounge bar on the ground floor and we had an enjoyable break from the hustle and bustle outside. Will definitely come back and try the main restaurant if the bar food is anything to go by. Friendly and... More

We took our friends out for a birthday dinner here. We went for the Christmas menu which was more than enough food of very good quality. The service was attentive without being pushy and the atmosphere is just as we like it, not too formal and yet a great place for a celebration.

Went here with a group of friends. Excellent menu and the quality was a cut above your usual gastropub. Would highly recommend. The pub downstairs was rammed full of lawyers but don't let that put you off. Decent range of ales too.

We walked from cannon Street and after finding a couple of non gluten free unfriendly pubs we came across the George pub. Bar staff were great and accommodating, I has a delicious naked burger and my husband and his friend enjoyed the roast pork, highly recommended

A Christmas party of 15 people. The food was excellent and the staff were superb from booking and preordering to prompt service on the day. Couldn't have asked for more.

We ate on the first floor in the Pig & Goose. Although we didn't have a booking, they were able to accommodate us, and even helped us get an order in before a large group that sat down just before we did. The food was extremely flavorful and delicious. Well portioned. Service, even with the big group, was excellent. I... More

Description
The George underwent an extensive and considerate refurbishment of the ground floor bar and first floor dining room. This saw the creation of an elegant and sophisticated restaurant; The Pig and Goose and a private dining room.

The stunning Pig & Goose restaurant, lounge bar and oak panelled private dining room is on the first floor of The George, where we serve classic British food for both lunch and dinner daily, with a 90 bin wine list that focuses on Old World classics, however, also showcases the very best in New World wines. We have a cheese trolley featuring 7 British cheeses to pair with our large range of ports, whiskies and brandies. The Pig and Goose is open to seated drinkers and diners daily.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
