Was planning to eat elsewhere but couldn't get in so we plumped for this gastro pub. Glad we did. My friend tried the venison sausage roll and I had the ribeye steak. Both very good. Wines on offer were fine but the ale on tap was even better! Service was very friendly - particularly the you Italian waitress who was... More

Totally delicious dinner here on a Saturday before heading to the theatre. The tuna tartar was amazing. Lovely decor, open kitchen and great, professional service. Well worth a visit.

I don't normally leave reviews (good or bad) but will make a rare exception for upstairs restaurant (Pig & Goose) at The George on the Strand. The food was fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed everything we had but it was the lovely, friendly service we received from Richard that made our evening - he helped make it a very special night for... The George is the bar on the ground floor which offers food as well. We had dinner in the Pig & goose upstairs. Surprisingly nice atmosphere, comparing to the pub style downstairs. Extremely friendly waitress (Letizia :-) !!) but all here colleagues where v friendly 2. The food was good and nicely presented. Good choice for a cosy and relaxed... More

Following beer and wine tastings offered by our exceptional server - Letetzia (spell?) we all enjoyed an excellent meal at the Pig & Goose. Everything was fresh, well prepared and seasoned. The atmosphere was pub style and cozy in beautiful, historic area. Looking forward to a return visit.

Visited this excellent find while in London on business. Excellent food and atmosphere. The server, Latitcia, was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable on the wine and beer as well as the cuisine. To start she brought us a tasting for the beer then the wine. She explained each which helped guide us to our order. Then there was the food.... More

Stumbled in here on a saturday late afternoon and what a great little find. The upstairs restaurant at the George is welcoming and warm, with a open kitchen so you know its not " ping dinners ready ". Great table service from the staff, attentive as well as knowledgeable. The atmosphere was fine and informal, the prices were very good... More

Have visited quite a few times as the quality of the food received is amazing especially the crackling which is a must have! With fresh new seasonal menus throughout the year there is always a nice new dish to try which is always executed to a high standard and is great value for money! Definitely worth a visit :)

This was a surprise - a nice pub with a large choice of draft beers etc. Good service, although we didn't eat the food looked good. Very pleasant and clean - much better than many others in this area

A large party of us chose the upstairs "Pig & Goose Restaurant" this weekend. I had developed a big affection for The George while working for 3 months on a project across the road at the Royal Courts of Justice, and really missed it when I relocated to another area. Newly refurbished - but wonderfully old - this pub is... More

Description
The George underwent an extensive and considerate refurbishment of the ground floor bar and first floor dining room. This saw the creation of an elegant and sophisticated restaurant; The Pig and Goose and a private dining room.

The stunning Pig & Goose restaurant, lounge bar and oak panelled private dining room is on the first floor of The George, where we serve classic British food for both lunch and dinner daily, with a 90 bin wine list that focuses on Old World classics, however, also showcases the very best in New World wines. We have a cheese trolley featuring 7 British cheeses to pair with our large range of ports, whiskies and brandies. The Pig and Goose is open to seated drinkers and diners daily.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
