We booked into the Swan as we had been to see Twelfth Night in the afternoon. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The food is wonderful. We had the hand dived scallops followed by the Cornish fish stew...More

We had the most splendid afternoon tea, so much choice and the 'Gentleman's Afternoon Tea' looked delicious - and so much of it! Lovely setting overlooking the Thames of course, opposite St Paul's. Very pleasant staff, and the most beautiful china - which we all...More

Very much recommended for afternoon tea. Lovely staff, amazing views across the Thames to St Paul's. Loads of food! Loved the special Shakespeare crockery. Add on a cocktail for additional fun

Ate here before going to see a play at the Globe. We walked in and was seated straight away (3.30pm on a Saturday) The young chap serving us was fantastic. Menu selection is good, I am a small eater so unfortunately the size of the...More

Very attractive location next to the Globe theatre, so extremely handy for a pre-theatre meal or if just walking along the Thames at Southwark. We had the vegetarian curry and the haddock fish cake from the bar menu. Both very tasty and reasonably priced.

Great re-union of friends and family but had we allowed it, our server Joel would've ruined the evening. Thankfully Ted popped in every now and again to deliver drinks or sort out an incorrect bill. We had the shared meat, vegetable and cheese platter along...More

Had dinner her back in June, before a midnight showing at the Globe itself. Chose it because it was next door and also I'd photographed a wedding there last year where all the guests raved about the food. Would have liked a later slot when...More

Went here with work colleagues and tried the pre theatre menu (wasn't going to the theatre but hey). Menu was limited to 3 starters, mains and puds, covering vegetarian, meat and fish. Duck terrine was nice and tasty, pork belly suitably melt in the mouth...More

A group of 8 had a reunion dinner in the "private" dining area on a summers evening. Very comfortable and quiet as long as the door to the main restaurant was closed. Very good food although two items on the menu were not available and...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Hi - I'd book for 5 o'clock. You don't want to feel you have to rush, or worry about slow service. I don't know about Sundays, but I'm never one to pass up the opportunity of a Sunday Roast.

Did the dog misbehave? Use the wrong fork or knife? Did it use the wrong glass for water or wine? Given that some humans shouldn't be allowed to sit and dine as they have zero manners, poor hygiene and dire attitudes..... if... More
