Currently sat in this restaurant. Lighting so intimate, (dark), you need to place the candle strategically to read the menu. Waitress bought bottles and stuff. She had to tell me what they were as too dark to see. Wine list superb. Staff very nice. Food freshly prepared. Background music pleasant. Just bring a torch. Steve

Il Baretto makes for an expensive meal out. However, the food itself is top quality. The ambiance is a little stiff, although fun overall.

Five of us had a birthday lunch for one of my sons. The staff were excellent, good service and with a smile, which was contrary to some of the trip advisor reports that I had read. The food was very good, my two sons shared a leg of lamb (£64), which they said was excellent. My wife had salt baked... More

The music downstairs was way too loud, food was seriously bad: Veal was greasy and wrongly fried. Ravioli were tasteless. The only good thing was the tuna tartare. even if the food has been excellent, this place is over priced. i am never coming back and wouldnt recommend it. particularly given the offer you have in this area!!!!

A Very busy restaurant. We were fortunate to find a table, despite being a Wednesday evening. Started with carpaccio of yellow tail and burrata. Burrata was very good and well presented but the fish was not great. A few thick slices of dry fish with very little dressing. Spaghetti with lobster was not very flavourful. The risotto with black truffle... More

Iceland Lasagna tastes better. Full of cheese you don't feel any taste but the fat. Salad full of mayonnaise. Personal as nice as a jailer. For Valentines Day Open Table offered 25% off, not specifying any exception for that special day, but they "did not apply it". They don't have contactless payment either, who doesn't nowadays ? Way too expensive... More

I have been dining at Il Baretto for many years and always had a very nice experience, the food has always been good and i have brought many friends as well as business colleagues here for a number of meals. I took advantage of the 25% off offer as i thought why not go to a favorite, however it seems... More

First visit for business lunch with a guest based on convenient location to his office.. basement location was noisy and we had to almost shout at each other to be heard. Great wine list, whilst set menu for lunch overpriced for the quality. Business objectives achieved but not due to the food or time here!

We were staying at the nearby Montagu Place Hotel and asked the receptionist for a suggestion for an Italian place to eat - mainly because I saw her name was Chiara. This was one of her favourite places to go, so we went there for lunch. Quite a large restaurant downstairs, but managed to feel intimate. Service fast, food excellent.... More

Il Baretto Wine Bar and Restaurant in London's very happening Marylebone Village is another winner from the stable of restaurateur Arjun Waney, who brought you the stellar Roka, Zuma and La Petite Maison. If you're looking for a super Italian cuisine and would like to avoid both chain restaurants and designer price tags, Il Baretto in Blandford Street is an excellent choice. Located between Marylebone High Street and Baker Street, Il Baretto has a smart wine bar located on the ground floor and a cavernous basement dining room that is a stylish restaurant for group parties and celebrations. Popular with a local crowd, as well as with tourists and shoppers from Bond Street, this restaurant serves up authentic Italian recipes and we love the spaghetti con astice with lobster, sweet chilli and garlic sauce, and the risotto ai carciofi, a creamy artichoke risotto. Pizzas and dishes from the robata grill are winners too.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
