Such a disappointment. Despite booking the restaurant wasn't prepared for our group - the food was substandard and staff were unhelpful. We waiting for at least an hour for our food and we're not looked after or compensated in the slightest. The muffins were hard and bacon and eggs were really over done and really wasn't worth the money.

We booked this place after scouring Tripadvisor for decent restaurants near our hotel in Stratford. There weren't many (if any options) so we settled for the first place of which the menu and the pictures spoke to us. Arriving at Forman's was already something of itself, since the place more or less lies in an industrial district. When we finally... More

What can I say! I choice for my main Poched turbot, scallops, clams with a chorizo froth and baby carrots sounded great, the dish came up three small pieces of fish on a bed of lumpy mash potatoes (the mash wasn't mentioned in the discription of the dish), four clams, scallops, but no chorizo froth but a sauce with no... We, party of 6, arrived for brunch at 12 yesterday, the table was booked. The menu was only breakfast, at 1.30pm most of the food arrived, my eggs on toast were ok, the hot-smoked salmon was gorgeous but what took them 1.5 hours to put it on a plate? My friend ordered kippers with roasted tomatoes, 1 solitary kipper arrived... More

The restaurant had a nice ambiance. Salmon is clearly their specialty. Their second specialty was the tasty Golden Syrup Sponge Pudding with Crushed Praline Ice-cream. Other courses were enjoyable. Service a little slow and restaurant cold at times given people exiting to smoke.

happened to be passing and popped in to try the smoked salmon. I can only comment on this one dish (various different types of smoked salmon) and treacle pudding. The salmon was really good - it tastes unlike smoked salmon i've tasted before. Very subtle and delicious. Treacle pudding was good too, but the ice cream was straight from the... More

If you love smoked fish and wondered about the process, look no further. Forman are the foremost smokers of salmon in the world and continue to be run as a family concern. The tour is fun and informative followed by an excellent salmon lunch. The restaurant us superb and well worth the visit.

This was our third visit to Formans, the first being in June 2010 when I last reviewed here(I think the first ever TA review for them). We had not previously seen the enlarged dinining area which is sumptuous in its decoration and ambience. Putting aside the challenge of getting there from Hackney Downs station in the dark...the evening was perfect.... More

We visited Foreman's as part of a large group. The whole experience was fantastic - a tour had been arranged which was informative and entertaining. This was followed by a great 2 course lunch - which, of course, included their delicious artisan salmon. We plan to return for a meal with family.

Food is good, maybe the best on fish island but the atmosphere is quite cold and the wine list a bit poor. Good view over the Olympic stadium

Thanks for your comments. Our wine list is small as we made a decision when we opened the restaurant 8 years ago, only to serve English wine. This is to match our seasonal British food. When we started promoting English wines in our business some 10-15 years ago, many thought it was a joke, but now people are coming to... More

Formans' restaurant is based in the smokehouse of H.Forman & Son, the world's oldest salmon smokers. As well as having a viewing gallery into the smokehouse - a la Willy Wonka - the views out of the restaurant window to the Olympic Park are unrivalled. The food is the finest quality British gastronomy served in an informal setting. The wine list is exclusively English and all-British spirits are served from the bar. Forman's Restaurant has a delightful terrace and outdoor riverside lounge as well as a spectacular 1000sq ft art gallery which can be hired for private events.
