First visit amazing and friendly staff and great service. Beyond delicious bread. Second visit not a customer in sight, however staff all over the place and asked for my coffee and was advised by the lady in the long blond hair I don't work here, however I am standing behind the till . I was also rudely advised that I... More

I'm terribly sorry about your experience in our Hove bakery. You should always be met with the highest level of customer service and I must apologise that this has not been the case. Could you possibly contact our team at breadheads@gailsbread.co.uk? We would like to discuss further. More

I guess you get what you pay for? Amazing quality and you can taste it. Creative combinations. Slightly over-priced and could possibly do with a mid-level range of products.

The food was good, had the orange and almond muffin and a cappuccino but found it a little overpriced. 5.80£ for a really small muffin and a small cappuccino. The Staff was great and we got served very quickly.

Great Brunch selection. Love their breads. Food is high quality & freshly prepared. Love their decor. Lovely outdoor seating area too which is great for watching the world go by on Portobello Road. This was my second time to visit this cafe & still love it. Definitely should be added to your list when visiting Portobello Road Market.

with repeated requests, my husband finally agreed to take me to the Portobello market. I lost the track of time and didn't realise we hadn't had lunch. the first eatery we saw was Gail's café and it saved our day and also my husband's temper. There was a long queue and almost no seating space. but by the time our... More

What a pity that an eaterie in such a prime spot could give such a slow service. Not only was the queue a long wait, so was the food's arrival. When it finally arrived, only one meal came. My husband had to wait even longer for his. Our coffees arrived cold and had to be sent back. The only saving... More

I had started early at Portobello Road market so I was just in need of coffee when I saw Gails. The interior looked warm and inviting with bare brick walls and baked goods piled on every surface. The choice was overwhelming, I could have eaten all. The queu was reasonable, though some customers can't make up their mind while waiting... More

Terrible service. Took 15mins queueing behind one other customer because the till lady lost his large order. There were other staff around, I don't know why they couldn't jump in to help with the lengthening queue. The coffee tasted nice but it should if it's £3 for a regular latte. The pastry was ok, but for somewhere claiming to be... More

My daughter and I visited here for a quick lunch, it looked really nice from the outside and the breads looked very appetising . Unfortunately the staff let this place down. We firstly ordered a sandwich and having checked her watch she decided we could still have this, then we ordered the blt on what was advertised as a cream... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
