Great Brunch selection. Love their breads. Food is high quality & freshly prepared. Love their decor. Lovely outdoor seating area too which is great for watching the world go by on Portobello Road. This was my second time to visit this cafe & still love it. Definitely should be added to your list when visiting Portobello Road Market.

with repeated requests, my husband finally agreed to take me to the Portobello market. I lost the track of time and didn't realise we hadn't had lunch. the first eatery we saw was Gail's café and it saved our day and also my husband's temper. There was a long queue and almost no seating space. but by the time our... More

What a pity that an eaterie in such a prime spot could give such a slow service. Not only was the queue a long wait, so was the food's arrival. When it finally arrived, only one meal came. My husband had to wait even longer for his. Our coffees arrived cold and had to be sent back. The only saving... More

I had started early at Portobello Road market so I was just in need of coffee when I saw Gails. The interior looked warm and inviting with bare brick walls and baked goods piled on every surface. The choice was overwhelming, I could have eaten all. The queu was reasonable, though some customers can't make up their mind while waiting... More

It's not too bad nice enough bread and cakes plus hot drinks they serve breakfast well toast and jams or eggs on toast and porridge croissant really over priced for the quality of it does not match Paul or pain quotidien in any way what's so ever and as that's only a few minutes walk up the road I know... Terrible service. Took 15mins queueing behind one other customer because the till lady lost his large order. There were other staff around, I don't know why they couldn't jump in to help with the lengthening queue. The coffee tasted nice but it should if it's £3 for a regular latte. The pastry was ok, but for somewhere claiming to be... More

My daughter and I visited here for a quick lunch, it looked really nice from the outside and the breads looked very appetising . Unfortunately the staff let this place down. We firstly ordered a sandwich and having checked her watch she decided we could still have this, then we ordered the blt on what was advertised as a cream... More

It is overpriced and lacking in cleanliness and hospitality. We got a couple of sandwiches that the staff offered to heat. They did heat them but then brought them to the table without napkins, paper towels or flatware. When my wife asked to have her's cut she was met with a dull stare initially, then the male server brought knives... More

We previously visited Gail's a year ago when last in London and it was very good indeed. Today we decided to re-visit as we were in the area and, as above, all o can really say is both the food and coffee bought today were mean verging on daylight robbery. There is nothing lights my fuse as poor and in... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
