Decent Indian food and nice quiet restaurant in the middle of Soho. Very affordable, simple without the fancy over complication that you so often get.

I feel this place is misunderstood. Yes, it is quite dated and the staff are a little odd, but the curry is absolutely spot on - excellent naga chicken, very good aloo gobi (lovely firm cauliflower - a pleasant change from the mush you usually...More

We are very regular eaters of Indian food in London and tried the Golden Oven as it was conveniently located in Soho, near the theatre we'd visited. It was our first time here and I can't imagine we'll return. Everything was average at best. Service...More

First, the good. The location is good and they have a cheap set menu. The chicken jalfrezi was nice and I couldn't fault the rice. Now, the bad. The mattar paneer was poor and the cheese naan made me sad. The service was atrocious. Once...More

Situated on Bateman Street in the heart of the West End, the Golden Oven is ideal for long lunches and pre-theatre dinners, especially if you're a fan of authentic Indian food. The emphasis is on fresh spices and traditional recipes so you can be sure the dishes taste just as they would in India. The restaurant itself is relaxed and unpretentious, with friendly staff to guide diners through the extensive menu. Classics like lamb karahi and chicken madras are done very well here, but we recommend trying one of the chef's signature dishes. Try the garlic chilli chicken if you like your food hot and spicy, or go for a thali if you want to try a little bit of everything.
