Just had lunch at this pub and made the mistake of ordering the Katsu Chicken burger.... the meat was substandard - mixture of thigh / ends of breast meat... not what you'd expect from a burger.

This is obviously not what I like to see so would like to invite you back for another lunch on us. We actually launched a new menu today and we are always looking to improve.... More

Came to celebrate and engagement. Good ale and beer selection including lovely surprising lagers. Lovely sunday food including scallops, roasts and fish and chips. Also good desserts. Quite rustic with rail memrobillia but nice pub overall opposite kings hospital.

Visited yesterday after almost 30 years! Such a friendly welcome from the barman who offered tasters of the beer and made us feel like long lost friends. He is an asset to the pub. Had a snack/sandwich and enjoyed a few drinks including excellent well kept beer.

This is my third review of the Phoenix. I am a local, eat/drink here fairly frequently and have watched the place change over many years. In fact, I remember it before it was a pub - I have bought tickets in it when it was the old station hall. When I think about the Phoenix, I guess personally I would... More

Went here for lunch after reading about tis place in a book. It was well worth the bus and two trains it took to get there and for the same trip home. The food was hot and tasty and served without any delay. They had two real ales on as well as a good range of bottled beers. The staff... More

We dropped in here for a quick drink after visiting a friend in hospital. We were served quickly and the bar staff were attentive and friendly. Pricey!

I first cast eyes on my future wife here 30 years ago when she was training at Kings and I was a committed beer drinker and rascal, the pub was a Firkin at the time and full of rowdy students, cigar smoke and interesting women. Fascinating building that must have been part of the station once. Nice atmosphere. Lovely staff. Good food. Good service. Warm. Handy. Would go again. We had a snack from an interesting and wholesome menu, with some appetising mediterranean items as well as UK ones. Free taste of Bloody Mary.

Description
A Denmark Hill pub of mythical proportions. It's not often a pub can make the earth move. Abuzz with friendly banter and offbeat charm, you'll find The Phoenix benefits from more than just good vibrations from the throng of trains below. Like its mythical namesake, this quirky venue rose from the flames of the great Denmark Hill Station fire. Remnants of the building's original character blend effortlessly with the cosy furnishings, resulting in a look as sublimely eclectic as our speciality drinks list, and as timeless as the defunct yet impressive station clock hanging pride of place from our high-vaulted ceilings.
