Well it IS in Kensington and their prices ARE posted outside but £37.69 for two tapas plates and one glass of wine is 'avin' a larf. I have always promised I will never return to a restaurant that charges for bread! That's just silly and mean.

Lovely tapas that were a bit unusual, at least outside of Spain. The slowed cooked tomato is sherry was divine. I didn't think people still cook bone marrow (mad cow disease?) Yet there it was: cut across the bone and grilled. Nice to try, although not necessary something I'd go back for - slightly greasy. Small menu, but good selection.... More

I unexpectedly ended up in this restaurant with my friend tonight. We were looking for a cosy and nice place. We have met Gustavo that recommended us some dishes. Everything was absolutely amazing, even better than what we could find in Barcelona or Madrid. Dont put this in you to do list, write it down on your bucket list!!!!

Had a really lovely meal here. Top quality ingredients, excellent cooking and really nice atmosphere. The serving staff could not be faulted who were all genuinely friendly and attentive. There was also live music, with a rather excellent guitarist playing Spanish classical guitar and flamenco. All of this added to the really enjoyable atmosphere. I am not normally a fan... More

Were thrown out (Well, asked to move on.) of another place next door because we would not commit to buying 3 tapas a piece. They sent us to this place (apparently owned by the same proprietor). Capote y toros was a more relaxed atmosphere. Friendly wait staff and they had a guitar player. We ordered Chicoutrie plate, Chilled Prawns, Chirizo... More

We enjoyed delicious tapas from a good (but not worryingly long) selection. We were surprised to be told as we sat down that our table would be needed in 90 minutes, as this had not been mentioned when we booked. However, this never became a problem and the waiting staff were always friendly and helpful, especially when helping with our... More

Went to Capote y Toro with friends and was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was extremely good, vibrant and fun. The place was busy, with people constantly pouring in,yet the service was friendly, personal and professional. We were extremely lucky to meet the Chef, with Capital C,he made the best Tapas dishes I have tried in London! The duck liver and the slow-cooked tomatoes (8-10 hours... More

This is a very authentic tapas restaurant, just like we frequented when we lived in Spain. Friendly helpful staff, very knowledgeable bartender helped us with the list of Sherries, then the Spanish wines. We tried the Galician octopus (outstanding), Serrano ham, pimientos de Padron , bone marrow & Manchego. So tasty. We will return!

We only phoned to book a table a couple of hours before on a Saturday night but they happily accommodated the 6 of us ladies at 6:45. The atmosphere was perfect and there was even live Spanish guitar music later on, with the sun shining it felt just like being in Spain! We ordered a huge array of dishes from... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
