Went in for a coffee and sat for about 30 minutes listening to the sexiest remarks by the male waiter. "We only serve beautiful women", "today we serve ladies and handsome men but we will make an exception for you, haha!" There is an urgent training need to drill into the staff that it is never, under any circumstance, acceptable... More

We were treated to a lovely baked goods and tea whilst we waited for our train. The lady at the front shop was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Went to Bea's Cakes at Saint Paul's for afternoon tea. The brioche, on which the tea sandwiches were served, was doughy and on the verge of stale. I thought the sweets were kind of heavy as well. The scones and the tea were the best part of the experience. They are the only reason for the third star. If I... More

I came to Bea's hoping for a more relaxed atmosphere. Here are my observations... Drinks: I'd like to point out there was no offering of cold drinks as an alternative to hot ones. One of my friends wasn't even offered a hot alternative, so she asked for orange juice which she was charged extra for. Another friend was offered hot... More

Unfortunately the cakes were not as good as they looked, service was slow and the place was too small and hot. Such a shame as the cakes looked appetising downstairs. The staff were however very friendly.

Staff were unorganised and in no hurry to sort themselves out. Cakes and sandwiches were pretty average considering the cost and it was fairly small and dingy in there.

Popped in today for a Nutella duffin and apple spice to go. Both were absolutely excellent, friendly service and will happily return again and again.

Had nice tea and cake, however I have had better cakes in London for less money. My carrot cake was average and it was only the frosting that made it more interesting. The other half had a red velvet and again really it was only the icing that turned the cake into something slightly more interesting.

I visited here with a friend and was very impressed. There is an wide range of cakes and snacks as well as sandwiches including cakes for vegans and those who want gluten-free cakes. The service is friendly and fairly efficient. It can get very busy so worth arriving before the time you sit down or book in advance if possible.

We visited as a family although it's suitable for all groups and ages. Very good service - we had to wait a short time for the table and the server gave us some free cupcakes. Good food and a good selection of drinks.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
