Wanted to go for a long time as I work close, sold it to my friends as a place you need to tick off your list in London. Look, I was aware it was pricey before I booked but we ordered the lamb for 2 (which they kindly extended to 3) but they didn't give any extra/larger sides. 25 quid... More

I downloaded the app just to write this review. If trip adviser allowed me to give it zero stars I would. I don't think that I have ever had a worse night out for dinner. Let's start with the food. Awful would be the best way to describe it. We shared some starters and although the duck was pleasant it was... More

This is an excellent restaurant - the menu is good - the chicken pie for two was delicious - and the waiting staff are well-informed and assiduously helpful. Strongly recommended.

Continues to be a excellent staple, particularly after a show at Saddler’s Wells. Don’t be put off by the name – it’s been The Quality Chop House since 1896, and I suspect the menu might have changed a little since then. The restaurant has had its ups and downs since we started going there in the 1980s. It became an... More

We had the top room, not bad but not much atmosphere. The staff were very good and efficient. The various included starters and the mains were very tasty. On the whole worth a visit, but not necessarily a special occasion venue. Interior needs some redecorating/ upgrading. Historically interesting though!

Where to start! This was a small family celebration - and we'd heard that the food was terrific. Not much wrong with the starter - rillettes - and a very delicate plate of salmon. So far so god. The mains meat choice was Texel lamb or a rather exotically named pork - we ordered extra vegetables as it was a... More

Once upon a time the only food you cherished round here was from the deli Gazzano's. Then the Quality Chop, Moro in Exeter Street and The Eagle quickly turned this into a cluster of greats. 25 years on you won't see Nigella Lawson and Nigel Slater sat most days in Quality Chop but not much else has changed since it... This place is supposed to be a steak bastion. 4 of us got there. No beef mains on the menu, only 2 x 400g rib-eyes in the kitchen, that need to be 'reserved' (and had been so), for a restaurant seating 80 people (but only had 12 in there this night). Pathetic. The waitress then proceeds to say it's all... More

Saw this restaurant mentioned in Travel & Leisure. Checked out menu and prices online and booked a reservation. Excellent meal with wine was about $125.00. Check it out next time you're in London.

Description
The Quality Chop House has a long history as a provider of hospitality. Once a working men’s ‘eating house’ it offered nourishment and respite for the weary. It is in this spirit that we’d like to welcome you back through our doors. We are now offering three different dining experiences in surroundings reflecting the beauty and history of The Quality Chop House. The first is our Dining Room, For lunch the menu is simple, small and set. For dinner, we want to feed you. Give us your coat, pull up a pew (quite literally) and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll be offering a 5 course set menu, a progressive feast of our favourite things. You can pick the bottle (but we’ll have some magnums open to pour you a glass while deciding). Our Wine bar & Shop is open all day for on- and off-premises enjoyment. Our wines are fine but our prices are fair. A hand-picked selection from some serious cellars without the serious price tag. And we’ll have charcuterie, cheese and smaller plates on hand too. For tastings, feastings and meetings we offer our Upstairs - A private room for up to 10 people.

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
