This was our second visit in two weeks and again had a brilliant time. Excellent food, amazing choices of wine and excellent service. I can’t wait for next time.

We have been here before and this time we were sitting in the authentic part of the restaurant. Wooden tables and seats. You feel like you are being back in school. The roast beef is very good and tasty; the servant are friendly and it...More

Visited yesterday (31 March) and were initially grateful of getting a table without booking. We started with ‘snacks’ of truffled potato croquettes (two of the smallest we’d ever seen) and smoked cod’s roe. Had to pay extra for the bread to accompany the roe! Maybe...More

Went here for the Sunday roast and I wasn’t disappointed- the beef was incredible (brisket and rump) and the wine choice very good. Portions could be a bit bigger for the other dishes (my wife had the roast chicken and came home a little hungry,...More

It started out a a place that catered for the working classes and has probably increased it's prices above inflation so that after 100 years it is no longer accessible to anyone but hipsters ;-) The food is very good but you need to be...More

An excellent choice of meat dishes, with a more limited selection of fish. My friend had a perfectly cooked, tender onglet, and I ordered a fillet of fish; the latter came with accompanying vegetables, but since the onglet is solitary on the plate, one has...More

I used to dine here quite frequently in the late 1990s. But the restaurant closed shortly thereafter. Having learnt that it had reopened, I visited their place for dinner on a recent trip to London. In the old days it was a small restaurant only...More

A bit underwhelmed to be honest, albeit I turned up without a booking. Very first impression was that the room was on the chilly side. I ordered pork terrine for starter and onglet as mains as the 2 course set menu. Terrine was fine, and...More

This is the ultimate comfort food experience, with perfect roast chicken and other items from the carvery along with juicy, fatty potato sides. The best winter treat without any fuss, even though the seating is a bit cramped. Service and the very reasonably priced winelist...More

Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site
of an ancient meat market which remains in operation
today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally
renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and
some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a
focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough
time wondering through the area's maze of streets and
you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky

The Quality Chop House has a long history as a provider of hospitality. Once a working men’s ‘eating house’ it offered nourishment and respite for the weary. It is in this spirit that we’d like to welcome you back through our doors. We are now offering three different dining experiences in surroundings reflecting the beauty and history of The Quality Chop House. The first is our Dining Room, For lunch the menu is simple, small and set. For dinner, we want to feed you. Give us your coat, pull up a pew (quite literally) and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll be offering a 5 course set menu, a progressive feast of our favourite things. You can pick the bottle (but we’ll have some magnums open to pour you a glass while deciding). Our Wine bar & Shop is open all day for on- and off-premises enjoyment. Our wines are fine but our prices are fair. A hand-picked selection from some serious cellars without the serious price tag. And we’ll have charcuterie, cheese and smaller plates on hand too. For tastings, feastings and meetings we offer our Upstairs - A private room for up to 10 people.
