Pizarro's was even better on our second visit. The staff are great, and the food just amazing. Gamba all Ajillo was the pick of the 'Pica Pica' couresearch, and the Castillion lamb was to die for. We'll be back next time we spend time in...More

All the dishes were amazing. The service was friendly but not on par with the food. For example, a chaotic, drawn out bill settlement. And when the waiter spilled our bottle of wine on the floor and said she’d bring a new bottle (which we...More

Quiet atmosphere in the busy London. I appreciated the ways out of the ordinary to cook Paella nevertheless, as I am from Valencia, I expected a proper portion of rice instead of a sort of "tapa". I will recommend only if you have never been...More

I felt the food was disappointing for the price - £19, for example, buys you a piece of salt cod with a triangle of Piquillo Pepper and some wilted spinach. Avoid the chicken canelones which were bland, mushy and dry. The Presa Ibérica is delicious....More

Sat at the bar for dinner. Wine is reasonable. The food is generally below par in this price range though. Pan con tomate was good but not a particularly challenging dish, croquettes the same. The chocolate torte at the end was also nice (although they...More

Our daughter, a huge fan of Pizarro, took us there as an anniversary treat. This is a seriously good restaurant. The tapas were delicious, we chose the Jamon Iberico, the shrimp croquetas and the meat balls all of which were excellent. The main courses were...More

If you are home sick go there and order the pan con tomate and 5j ham with the beautiful wine from Cadiz and your blues will be gone in a heartbeat. It isn't cheap but it is so worthy.

Our lunch was an enjoyable experience. We had great company, and the waitress was very helpful. It is a pleasant restaurant with an open kitchen, busy but no pressure on the diners. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. "Starters" are tapas dishes...More

We were recommended this place and we ended up pleasantly surprised. We had the Pizzaro special which was medium rare cooked pork. Some starters in the beginning which we delightfully enjoyed but the pork, we have not eaten a dish similar before and we loved...More

We had a lovely stater and shared the lamb, although we were told it was a smaller meal by the waitress.

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some

foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Description
The full-sized restaurant is one block away from my sherry and tapas bar, José, on Bermondsey Street. At the front there is a bar, offering a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, with a spotlight on cavas, Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút. Here, at the window seats overlooking the lovely church of St Mary Magdalen or at the long communal table or at the bar itself, you can have a drink and graze on snacks, cheese, cold cuts and special tapas all day long. At the rear is more formal restaurant seating - tables for 2 and 4, banquettes for 4-5, a large communal table for 8-10 people and a private dining room for 8-10 people. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner in the evening all day from Monday until Sunday. When the restaurant area is open, the restaurant food menu is available in both the restaurant and the bar. We offer a selection of small and more substantial dishes that can be served as starters and mains or as tapas for sharing. As usual, I want to bring you delicious food with bright new flavours - the season's best on a plate. We take reservations for lunch and dinner in the restaurant and private dining tables, but hold the bar seating back for walk-ins.
