After a busy day visiting Cutty Sark and Greenwich Park, myself and my friend decided to try some local grub. Pie and Mash! Walked in and met by the most friendliest staff ever and great service. The food is a simple dish but very delicious. I could easily have pie and mash everyday if I could. If your after a... More

The traditional exteriors, the handwritten boards and the offer-of-the-day certainly invited me to enter this place. The portions are really generous and the price, as said, great. I had the opportunity to eat a wonderful chili beef pie with gravy and mash, a great cup of tea and the most gigantic (and moving) blackcurrant and apples crumbles with icecream I've... More

it is what it is. But it is simply done and a great blast from the past. They haven't tinkered with the recipe and seem to know they are the last bastions of a wonderful British tradition. We laughed and laughed at the Americans on the next table getting to grips with why we would pour liquor (which they at... More

Went for lunch on Saturday so you could expect a queue. The queue m9ves really quickly and its so worth it. Really tasty home made pies. The staff work so hard yet are very friendly. A definite must do in Greenwich. Give the Eels a try.

So there's many great things about this restaurant. Firstly there is a great debate over the best pie mash in London, for me this ranks comfortably in the top 2. Pies crispy on the top and soft on the bottom. The liquor is flavoursome and the mash plentiful. Queue if there is one moves quickly and there's lots of room... More

In my 4 day stay in London I would more often than not I'd come across tourist trap restaurants which were very expensive, but Goddard's was a wonderful exception. I always try to eat the traditional food where i go and certainly Goddard's was able to provide that. A hearty meal of two pies with mash, an abundance of sauce... More

It was very good and enjoyed having traditional London food. Only thing was we didn't know what liquor was and neither did the member of staff.

Walked in off the the street because I saw the restaurant was very crowded at lunch time. It was great for a traditional British meal. Although the food was a bit bland, as British food generally is, it was very good. The food is inexpensive and they will help advise you on what to get if you are a tourist... More

Description
Goddards at Greenwich serves London's most traditional meal of pie mash and liquor. This meal can be traced back through the 1800's and is an important part of London's food history. We are open everyday serving handmade pies which are baked throughout the day. We are a family run business that has been serving pie and mash since 1890. Our air conditioned licensed restaurant can seat 100 people and we also offer desserts and cold drinks. We look forward to serving you London's most famous dish!

Staying in Greenwich

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.
