While visiting a friend in London, she suggested a trip to Covent Garden and getting out at Holborn Station, so we could walk through to the 'garden'. Having left home after breakfast, we felt in need of a coffee en route and she knew of this place - and I'm glad she did! Such a lovely old style European coffee... More

I love this place for a coffee and cake. Perfect every time. Sometimes service can be a little slow, but I cannot deduct points when everything else is lovely. Worth a stop.

Finding ourselves in Aldwych after an appointment at the Indian High Commission we found ourselves outside this restaurant. Went in for a coffee and ended up eating brunch such was the lovely menu! We both had delicious chicken noodle broth followed by pork schnitzel and a carafe of wine. Resisted the most gorgeous looking patisserie as off on hols in... More

A really great place to have a late breakfast in the Covent Garden area. If it is afternoon tea that you are after then there is a terrific choice of cakes. Staff all very welcoming.

A great atmosphere, transporting you to Vienna, on the way to the theatre. We popped in for a light supper, not sure how light their sausages with sauerkraut was, but it was excellent. Great draught beer went beautifully with my main course and my wife really enjoyed her chicken soup. The pastry counter looked truly awesome!

We have been to the main restaurant many many times but popped in for a spot of lunch en famille . Reasonably priced menu with something for everyone . Like the buzzy atmosphere and again excellent service . I especially enjoyed the goulash soup as it's one of my favourites when I f to Austria !

A great place to have a pit stop near Theatreland in Covent Garden. The cafe serves a delightful chicken schnitzel and a mean millefeuille. Good service.

It was my husbands 65th birthday 6th Feb. I got surprise tickets to see 'Beautiful'. I was speaking to a friend and she knew I did not want to spend a great fortune. She recommended The Delaunay Restaurant, but it was too pricey for us. However, next door is Cafe Delaunay. (Viennese). Not cheap, (10% service charge included),but very pleasant... More

This cafe is clearly in the business of ripping off the unaware tourists who come in thinking this place is glamorous. Firstly, the prices on the menu are not those that you'll be charged. They are in fact the Take Away prices ...... now who would realise that if you're reading a menu? No mention on menu that it's for... More

I was really looking forward to revisiting an old haunt, but was sadly disappointed and would now no longer recommend it to my friends and Im not likely to return. The chicken noodle soup tasted like it had been reheated several times and bore no relationship to their previous version. The german meatballs were just appalling. I adore this type... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
