A large group of us visited for Sunday lunch. Those who had one of the roast options were delighted, excellent quality and massive portion sizes. Four of us visited The Pig and Butcher for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I'm looking forward to returning to sample the other dishes on the menu!

Was sitting on the table around the corner behind the big table of four, so had a couple of elbows joining us for dinner which wasn't the best start and shouldn't really be a table. We love visiting places that do good honest fresh food. Can't fault our visit. It's even prompted me to get a trip advisor account. Will be back next time we are in London town. Didn't catch the mangers name but they were wonderful

I can't get enough of this place. Sunday roasts are exceptional - on par with my mums! Always very busy so worth booking in advance, though if you don't mind waiting you can turn up and add your name to the list. We went to the pig and butcher for an evening meal on a Saturday when visiting London for the weekend and it was amazing. The staff were excellent, the Australian chap in particular was very friendly and recommended some great Portuguese red wine. The Pig and Butcher occupies a handsome pub built in the mid 1800's on what was fields used by farmers to rest and feed their livestock before being sent to Smithfield's Meat Market.We have brought the pub back to it's roots and receive carcasses straight from the farm and butcher them on site. We specialise in rare breeds such as White Park cattle, Iron Age pigs and Hebridean lamb while our friend Seb at Chart Farm supplies our game - if you haven't tried his venison you haven't lived!In summer we grill over coal and wood on our specially built Robata grill. In winter we brine, cure, smoke and braise.Vegetables come from Kent and are as good and as fresh as anything you'll find in this country.Our fish is supplied by Rupert on the south coast. He calls us in the morning and tells us what the day boats have caught and what he has. This is one of the reasons our menu changes so much - we literally don't know what fish we'll be serving until we have spoken with Rupert!We take our inspiration from farmhouse tables across Europe. Food is served simply and with little fuss! Share lots of small plates or a single big plate.
