Quirky little place. Great for a quick cup of tea and a cake. If you also happen to want a CD, they have a small, eclectic selection of artists on sale. Dog friendly and welcoming.

So I've been coming to the place for a couple months now and at different times. First of staff, amazing!! Always lovely, smiley, staff. Love the coffee. They offer a wide selection of non dairy milks. I often get the coconut and have converted people I've taken to this place. Food is simple but really really tasty. As I said... More

Had high expectations due to the positive reviews I read before our visit. Inside was messy and seating was limited. Coffee was nothing special. We tried bagel with avocado and chilli which cannot go wrong. At the same price, we could have got nicer coffee in a much more comfortable environment. We did not enjoy our visit. Staff did not... Velvety coffee, bagels with that perfect crispy yet chewy experience, clerkenwell hipster vibe and second hand Vinyl and CDs for sale. Oh and a garden (but yet to try this!) What's not to like...? Improvements slightly more comfortable seating? Coffee could be warmer, not everyone enjoys a thick spreading of cre cheese on their bagel (- so maybe ask if... More

I live close by and always wanted to pop in a try a bagel here and finally did on Sunday morning as I was looking for a quick bite to eat. The café is small and cosy so was great for a quick meal. I had the bagel with avocado and lemon and it was really delicious. One of the... More

Cosy little cafe in Exmouth Market, not much seating, but they do allow dogs in. Friendly service and a nice big mug of tea. I would also recommend the pastel de nata cakes. Delicious.

I went to this place a couple of times and in both cases I had the same experience: the waiters constantly kept talking very loudly among each others even when they were serving the clients! When we ordered our coffee, they even seemed annoyed because we 'dared' to interrupt their conversation to place our order! During the short time we... More

Brill is the coffee shop equivalent of your slightly eccentric yet lovable buddy who isn't trying to impress anyone with his simple but reliable basement flat, is usually seen wearing the same Zeppelin t-shirt and spends most of his time being really good at a few niche things (let's call them brewing coffee and sourcing the best bagels). Oh and... More

Small cafe / bar with a selection of music for sale too.... We visited for a breakfast for our last day of this trip. Very good food and reasonably priced. Busy with locals popping in for their usual takeaways. Good selection of music played whilst there, although Yoshimo (The Flaming Lips) had to battle more than the robots to be... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
