Eclectic sounds knobby - I may be out of line here but unfortunately much of Chinese food across the UK is bland, uninspired, and formulaic. The food at A.Wong is stimulating, inspiring and gorgeous. I had time and intended to indulge the taste of China menu. Chico, contender for greatest-frontman-in-the-world-award, suggested that, since I was no great fan of Chinese... More

We had the 10 course tasting menu and it was exceptional. Each dish was beautifully presented and explained, and obvious care and thought had gone into the meal as a whole. It was wonderful. Stand out moments were the abalone with mushrooms, and the szechuan chicken. The service was perfect and we couldn't have had a better evening.

I'm a chef and I know what I'm talking about! I'm only ever compelled to write reviews when a place truly deserves it. Combining modern techniques and fine dining service with Asian cuisine is a great combination and makes for a very joyous experience. There is an atmosphere here of passion from all the waiting staff plus well researched and... More

We had dinner even if we just dropped in without reservation thanking to a nice woman working there. The variety of dishes is amazing (not the usual Chinese dishes) and we appreciate very much what we have ordered!

Shitake mushroom keeps the natural rich flavour! Mint beef tastes rather tender..Interesting Moon Shu pancake...

Literally can't stress enough how good this restaurant is. I don't even want to talk about certain things because it was all so amazing. The only thing I will single out is the duck egg custard bun. It's the best desert I've ever had in london. It just beat the tipsy cake from dinner by Heston!

We asked the lovely hostess with dark hair to pick the dim sum for us. We also asked for the pork ribs. Everything was amazing. We had 12 rounds including dessert, we were hungry! All of us agreed it was the best meal experience in a long time. My husband also got an "old fashion Peking duck" and he loved... More

The dishes we chose from an interesting menu were almost all excellent: light, flavoursome, unusual. Definitely to be recommended. I have only three criticisms, two of them quite minor. The table seemed a bit too high for the chairs (or the chairs too low!) And there was really no need to put the food in such large bowls (seems to... More

Four of us spent a truly superb evening in The Forbidden City section of this ever busy restaurant. The ambience is sophisticated, the decor relaxing, the staffing very professional and knowledgeable and the food sublime. Two guests work in the food industry one of whom eats in high quality restaurants around the world; she rated A. Wong as one of... More

The name comes from the maiden name of the current proprietors' grandmother, and Kym's is still very much a family affair. This composed, affable restaurant serves hot and spicy cuisine rooted in its regional Chinese heritage - with a dim sum menu for lunch - to a hectic crowd of politicians, ambassadors and locals drawn to its bustling Victoria location.

Staying in Pimlico

Neighbourhood Profile
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighbourhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.
