Called with friends we were told we could only have the table for two hours, therefore, that meat out by 9pm, as it happened possibly due to the sad attack in London there were some no shows and we weren't asked to leave at 9 which is just as well as our friends didn't arrive until 7:30. We ordered a... More

Very old restaurant in every way, from the staff to the service and the food. Don't seat at the Bar. Overall a completely lack of care of the staff. A huge deception...

Returned to le caprice after quite a long gap from living away. It remains a charming little restaurant nestled in st james and is most definitely very attractive externally and internally. Lovely ambience to the place and food was lovely but portions seemed rather small and service a little rushed. Polite and friendly staff. Top end pricing but great for... More

We went in a group for Saturday lunch. Excellent service, very attentive waiters without being overpowering. Lovely atmosphere in a smart but not grand restaurant. However the food was disappointing. Crispy duck starter was not crispy and overloaded with the sauce. The steak was small for the price and sea bass rather over cooked and slightly too oily sauce. Somebody... More

We enjoyed an excellent dinner on Thursday last with friends from Canada and their grandson. I chose their delicious squid to start followed by perfectly cooked calf's liver, and finished with the coconut rice pudding with mango and passion fruit. Service was excellent as always. I do find that their wines have become slightly on the expensive side, but we... More

We were lured in by the excellent reputation this place has. Overall well worth a visit. The food was splendid and the service very attentive if a trifle rushed. Quite a small restaurant in an Art Deco style. Not too pricey unless you go wild on the wine list. We didn't see a vegetarian option on the menu which is... More

Still one of the best in London. I always like to pick a great place for lunch when meeting my friend, Rupert, who was in London from Budapest. And me, from sunnier Estepona. So It's important to pick a special place. Le Caprice doesn't disappoint. It has a vibrant buzz that balances that slight stuffiness. We started with the King... More

Food was good, relaxed atmosphere, pianist playing and even though we were on a table near to him it was enjoyable background music rather than making it difficult to chat. Piers Morgan sat on the table next to us but I was fortunate enough to have my back to him so it didn't make me feel too nauseous !

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
