Everything was nice but for a bill of almost £450 I want more than nice. We have been to many 1-3 star restaurants and have found the number of stars doesn’t always correlate to what one might receive. Firstly, the booking process and all the staff are excellent and are to be commended for their attention to detail and professionalism.... More

If you love good French food then this is your place, it is divine. We did the tasting menu and by the second course my companion was totally stuffed full of cream and cheese from the souffle but it was so good. The seafood cocktail was stunning and delicate but make sure that you save enough room for the cheese... More

My husband and I visited for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We had an amazing time with excellent food (Menu Exceptionale paired with wines) where every course was delicious. The staff were all lovely, serving French style and each with a lovely personality to go with it. Our sommelier was particularly good (sorry, I should have asked her name) explaining... More

I booked the Chef's Library for my father's 70th birthday and it really was a truly wonderful evening. I couldn't ask for more. Right from the start, dealing with the reservation the staff were so helpful and profesional with email conversations and phone calls which was all very reassuring. On the evening itself we were warmly welcomed by all the... More

Booked for a birthday celebration and quite excited about going but was all a bit of a disappointment unfortunately Service was very slow. Had to keep asking for water. They parked a serving table behind my chair which was very restricting when getting out for toilet etc. Had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Wouldnt recommend that. The cheese soufle... More

I had always wanted to eat here and my birthday this year provided the perfect occasion. It was truly brilliant. We had the exceptional menu and the adjective is well deserved. Eight courses were beautifully presented and delicious and the eight accompanying wines were superb. Other than the room and the atmosphere being special, the whole evening is made even... More

We went to Le Gavroche as a treat for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The restaurant has exemplary service from start to finish, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. We had the set lunch menu which was an affordable option for a special occasion. Staff were able to answer questions about the menu and wines. The food was divine, I... More

I have been coming here for the past twenty years, by myself, with family, with friends....and I have to say, not much has changed. The food, the feel of the restaurant, the service. Food is good, and quality has maintained through time. Is there better French food in town, I humbly submit that there is. Is there better service in... More

While visiting London we were lucky to get a table for two at short notice at this simply superb restaurant. My first experience of Le Gavroche was about 30 years ago and its reputation for excellence has not diminished. Each course was the best it could be and the incredible service and atmosphere made are visit one of the most... More

I have been frequently visiting this fantastic french restaurant in Mayfair. One of the top 3 restaurants for me. Overall food is excellent, especially cheese board is the best(my preference is very strong washed rind cheese). Costly dinner (well over £300 for 2), however definitely deserve.

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
