Since the take over this place is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Previously Matsuri St.James and previously a much better restaurant. We dined with 10 people. They've removed more or less all the teppanyaki tables so the teppanyaki dishes had to...More

Nice surroundings, service was ok but we found the food average when we had expected to it to be very good. They also charged for two bottles of Saki instead of the one we had. We wouldn't go back ourselves but it may have been...More

Went to Matsuri for lunch. Have been many times both lunch and dinner. This time we had teppanyaki which was great. I also had some a la carte sushi. The quality of the food is always top. One of the few places where they have...More

I would not put Japanese food at the top of my wanted list, but I was a guest so determined to make the most of it. We had a private dining room so it felt premium and a little special. I was determined to make...More

Visiting the third time we again had the same experience of delicious fresh food with so much to choose all of excellent quality. But we missed somewhat the typical traditional Japanese clothing like the kimono's of last year and before of the staff. All in...More

"Do you have a reservation?" Er, no. Nor do you need one. It has very nice set lunches. Not cheap though.

From the moment we sat down until the moment we left, we were guided through the courses on the banquet and, to cap it all, every mouthful was an absolute delight. Over 3 hours came and went and it seemed like 30 minutes. The final...More

OMG the food and experience here was amazing. Lovely welcoming staff . Great for couples or groups as the chef cooks your food on a hot plate in front of you. Extensive menu choice....I had lobster tail with tenderloin steak, veg and spicy rice which...More

We had the middle menu of the three (£100 a head). The food was good with the very rich and flavourful wagyu the highlight. While I was full and the food very good, I did feel that it was pretty pricey considering the chefs and...More

I had a bento box from Matsuri for my lunch and was blown away by it. Great value for money and what's more important great food. Matsuri do a different box each day. Absolutely fantastic

Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII,
the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier

Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which
indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the

a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s

the restaurant is closed undergoing refurbishment. It's opening with a different name. try calling or emailing them as getting in on the ground floor of a new restaurant is probably a great idea.

Description
Matsuri St James's is based in the heart of Mayfair, offering a wide variety of Japanese food from authentic to innovative. Using top quality ingredients we create a beautiful harmony including teppanyaki - a cooking style in which a chef cooks in front of you. The Sushi bar is very popular among Japanese expatriates as they recognise the same quality as they eat in Japan.
