19 of us visited on a very busy Sunday afternoon. From the minute we walked in we all felt very welcome. As there were so many of us we asked our lovely waitress Carolin if we could all have separate bills and nothing was too much trouble. Our food was just delicious, best Sunday roast I had in a long... More

My family and I made a last minute reservation here and couldn't have been happier with the food/service. We consider ourselves very serious foodies and the plates we ordered were all top notch. If you're into the whole artisanal farm-to-table movement, this will not disappoint. The menu offers both French and Italian dishes, as well as a scrumptious Fish and... More

We booked for lunch, having not been here before but seeing the other great reviews. It's a smallish restaurant so definitely book because it fills up quick! The food and wine were outstanding, I had the roast beef with Yorkshire pud, which was excellent. The service was top class, the room had a fantastic buzz but not too loud, and... More

We recently visited the Garrison pub for a family lunch . We ordered some bread which was stale and when we complained that it was stale it was taken away and then returned to us exactly the same . The lunch in my opinion was not good value for money was very over priced. The pub itself was friendly enough... More

Had dinner here with a friend. Absolutely lovely atmosphere and decor but I was really disappointed with the food. It was barely tepid. I would have sent it back but I was in a rush (our fault, not theirs). The dish was just a few unseasoned things in a dish. Some lamb. Some green lentils, a tiny bit of yogurt.... More

Four of us came for the Sunday roast and had a wonderful experience. It's always lively and buzzy in The Garrison so we've returned many times. The staff are very welcoming, particularly Vicky who's always so lovely, warm and friendly. The roast was spot on and a delicious sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We'll be back again soon.

Three of us were catching up and celebrating Christmas and there was certainly a good festive atmosphere. The place was busy, so good job we had a booking, and it had a good buzz. The food was pretty good and our waitress was helpful and friendly. I cheekily requested Xmas crackers which they were able to deliver, so thanks for... More

Very nice place for light lunch. We met friends of us to nice couple of hours in Friday sunny but cold noon. We took a quinoa salad, burger and salmon The food was tasty and says served on time in a perfect temperature. Beverage and cocktails were very good. A little beat noisy and crowded but worth to be there... More

I guess the only reason for coming here is a lack of options in terms of pub food and brunch places. Slow, unfriendly and unmotivated service, at best average food and steep price tags make it really difficult to say anything positive about this place.

Have eaten here before and enjoyed the visit Perhaps it was just a very busy night but service was on slow side It was still friendly however just had a lot of covers to look after. I suspect this is just typical of London. Everywhere is just so busy and notice it more and more when visit So would be... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
