Tayyabs is deffo one of the great Pakistani restuarants in this part of town, the food is that of legends, especially the biriyani and dry meat although a better choiced name for that dish may have sounded a bit more apertising. If you like mango lassi they do a good job at that too, but the sweet section is a... More

Booked a table for 2 at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The place was heaving with people drinking from bottles of wine waiting in the lobby for a table. Went up to the desk to report in, only to be told to look for a 'little guy in a blue shirt' .... found him 20 mins later. Told him we had... More

Highly recommend this place for the energised, bustling atmosphere and the spicy food. Great menu choice, you can graze on small plates or go for larger dishes. I arrived at 9pm on a Tuesday, a full restaurant but no queue. Service was fast but I didn't feel rushed. I liked the option of bringing my own alcohol, a well stocked... More

Even though we had to wait a while without a reservation, it was worth it. The food here is amazing. We had Lamb chops, Chicken Tikka, Lamb kabobs, all of which were great. If you want to drink though, you will have to go down the street and buy your own.

Arrived at 3.30pm, only a few customers. We ordered chicken tikka starters, tandoori nan, rice and mixed vegetables. The poppadums offered, we thought complimentary - but we were charged. The mixed veg was not good and poor value at £6. Salad was complimentary, but rather basic - lettuce, onion, cucumber and tomato. The chicken tikka arrived sizzling hot - it... More

Fantastic meal at an incredible price; our family of four ventured out to Tayyabs over the holidays. We spent 50£ for a feast of delicious dishes- spicy lamb chop appetizer, 3 mains, rice and 2 desserts. The byob policy is a plus. The cuisine is Punjabi which is spicy and a family favorite. We had a reservation and were seated... More

Waouh, I love this place. Now that I have been there for dinner, I understand why so many friends have recommended me to go to Tayyabs. The food is amazing: samosas are very tasty, grilled lamb chops and seekh kebab are AMAZING. The chicken curry and nans are also very good. I also had a house milk ice cream which... More

Sure it was probably us - but we seemed to be rushed. Had reservations, which I guess put us near the kitchen. Service seemed to be consistent across tables. Food was good and came out fast. Someone recommend this place for chicken tikka masala. Was good - not fantastic. So you might want to find another closer unless this location... More

We booked early 5.30 as I refuse to queue outside for food. We then got asked to go downstairs - but because one in the party was in the toilet - they told us to wait. I refused knowing that all tables were being taken. The man upstairs took umbrage when I asked his name. We asked for tap water... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
