The location is unconventional, at best (Baker Street is not the place where you'd expect to find a French bistrot) but once you walk in, this little restaurant unveils its cosy and charming allure. Galvin Bistrot does remind of France but the menu on Sunday is more like a Sunday roast menu (nothing wrong with that). Point is, we did... More

This restaurant matches the standards of its siblings in therms of the quality of food and service but somehow manages to do so in a way that is very relaxed - I guess that's why they refer to this one as the 'Bistrot'. 9 of us had Sunday Lunch there to celebrate a birthday. The prix fixe menu offered a... More

Everything in the name is wrong, I don't know whether 'Galvin' has much to do with it (I rather doubt it) but this is a bistro where they can't get soupe a l'oignon or tarte tatin right, and you pour your own drinks and wave your arms when you are trying to get the attention of staff so it doesn't... Came here for dinner last night and the food was lovely. Had snails, steak tartar and risotto - all very delicious and presented well. The wine choice was also good. The only thing that let the evening down was service - very rushed at the beginning, we were asked twice in the first 10 mins if we were ready to... More

Apart from being a beautiful and cosy place, the Escargot is the best I've eaten. The attendance are friendly as well and the wine menu are wide.

This is my first time at this restaurant. I saw it advertised at Timeout London as one of the romantic restaurants in the city, so I booked a table to celebrate my wife's birthday here. The ambience was quiet when we entered, and we were situated at a corner table close to the window. I had flowers delivered in advance,... More

Took friends for dinner and our meal was as good as usual. Their standards are high in all areas. The dining room is nicely decorated and not too noisy. The service is informal and staff are extremely knowledgeable. Steak tartar was fabulous and the pear souffle a huge hit. It is also a pleasure to be able to easily park... More

First class interesting and beautifully presented food. There is a good selection of wine and those offered by the glass are good. Excellent service. Good lively ambiance. Highly recommended.

We had a very pleasant lunch on my birthday. We had not been to the restaurant before and opted for the set menu. The restaurant is airy and clean with a very busy atmosphere. Tables are well spaced although a little cramped. The service was excellent - friendly, attentive and very professional. The al la carte menu looks very appealing... More

The original restaurant to be opened by the Galvin brothers, the Bistrot was an overnight success with food critics and customers alike. Bistrot de Luxe has won several prestigious awards, amongst them Best French Restaurant for 2 years running, as well as top awards from the AA and Tatler Magazine. With their Michelin-starred backgrounds, Chris and Jeff Galvin bring top quality French cuisine at affordable prices, with their flair for sourcing the best seasonal ingredients, and over 30 years of culinary experience between them. Today, the bistrot still retains much of its original ethos. Chef Patron, Chris Galvin, together with Head Chef, Luigi Vespero, offer a seasonally-inspired French menu, comprising many bistrot classics. Few restaurants in London have managed to emulate the success of this timeless classic.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
