I took a small party out for a mid-week meal to Galvin Bistrot de Luxe having previously eaten at Galvin at Windows in Mayfair. The restaurant is true to its name and has a pleasant French bistro atmosphere to accompany its smart location in Marylebone. The menu is reassuring small with classic french dishes on show, with a modern twist... More

I visit a couple of times a year to meet friends and we always have a fabulous time. A classic French bistro the food is excellent, good wine list and staff super friendly. I highly recommend for a great relaxed lunch or dinner.

Was looking forward to this visit, but quality of food vey disappointing...its not that difficult to cook pheasant breast, but this was tough to approaching unchewable! Portions meager...probably just as well. a real shame ...great ambience and service.

This was our first visit to Galvins and we were very impressed. This is classic French cooking at its best, and amazing value. I had the best escargots I have had in years and a wonderful Lyonnaise plat du jour of chicken livers. My guests had the crab lasagne and the bavette steak. All were perfect. The wine list is... Went to meet up with four friends who we had not seen for some time. The setting is old fashioned, in a good way. The service was attentive and the food was well prepared and delicious. We went for the Prix Fixe Menu which is limited (only two choices for each course) but very tasty. It is very reasonably priced,... More

We had dinner here last night and were very disappointed with the service. The food itself was good, the chocolate dessert was delicious, but from the moment we came through the door, the service was appalling. Firstly we were rudely questioned over the time of our booking, even though we had email confirmation and they had space for us anyway..... More

I was treated to lunch here, but treat is an understatement. It's an exquisite restaurant with impeccable service and delicious french food to match. For London, the prices were very reasonable when taking into account the quality. This surely has to be rated among the best the city has to offer. The lunch menu offers an excellent choice of dishes.... More

The original restaurant to be opened by the Galvin brothers, the Bistrot was an overnight success with food critics and customers alike. Bistrot de Luxe has won several prestigious awards, amongst them Best French Restaurant for 2 years running, as well as top awards from the AA and Tatler Magazine. With their Michelin-starred backgrounds, Chris and Jeff Galvin bring top quality French cuisine at affordable prices, with their flair for sourcing the best seasonal ingredients, and over 30 years of culinary experience between them. Today, the bistrot still retains much of its original ethos. Chef Patron, Chris Galvin, together with Head Chef, Luigi Vespero, offer a seasonally-inspired French menu, comprising many bistrot classics. Few restaurants in London have managed to emulate the success of this timeless classic.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
