About
Classic English Pub. All our products are made from our brewer in Tadcaster. The building is been refurbished in 2018 following a classic Victorian style. The layout of the ground floor bar follow the architecture of the bar in the 1840 with 3 booths and a fireplace room. The first floor bar has a library with old books and fireplace. Is the perfect ambience for relax and have a nice talk. The Duke of Argyll is a Pub without music, television and WiFi.

This place was just round the corner from the Hub by Premier Inn so we came for a quick drink before checking in. My husband didn't know what beer to have so the barman gave him a few tasters to help him decide. Can't remember...his name but he was from Kent, and very friendly and chatty. Great little pub.More

We stumbled upon this pub when we were jet lagged and looking for a meal. We ended up eating here twice because of the service, the food and the great location. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the beautiful, spacious room. The meals we had were...delicious and served promptly. What a great spot.More

Like the look of the place, but it has a no tech policy which is odd. Wine was awful, glasses not clean. Staff are quite moody, the lady behind the bar was listening to our conversation and didn't even try to hide it. The guy...in charge who has an eastern European accent with a beard was very unpleasant. Won't be going here again. So many better places in Soho.More

Walking into The Duke of Argyll is like stepping back a century or so. One cannot fail to fall for the charm of this very old pub. Myself and my partner tend to come here for a lunch when in London. The calming mood of...the restaurant area is a welcome tonic to the hustle and bustle of the adjoining streets. The steak pies, of which we enjoyed one each, sated our stomachs. The ale in the pie nodded a gesture of presenteeism but did not truly announce its position amongst an otherwise pleasing taste expedition. Tender stem broccoli was plentiful and was not adverse to mopping up the thick gravy with the partnered mash potatoes. Our bartender was discreet and humble, our experience, most satisfying.More

We called in on the spur of the moment, the bar was busy downstairs but I found a table upstairs after about 10 minutes. The surroundings are comfortable, service is speedy and the menu the usual pub fare. On the whole it's a good place...to meet for a family meal if it's not a special occasion.More

Despite being in Soho the restaurant was really quiet but the food is reasonable value and the service was quick. Meals looked a bit sad and were very tight with the chips but overall were OK. Nothing to write home about but am easy quick...bite if neededMore

We stumbled upon here by accident looking for some classic food and were hugely surprised to find this total gem of a place in central London which is as authentic a pub as I've been to in the countryside. Roaring log fire, v comfortable seats,...a warm welcome from the bar staff and delicious UK pub grub. All old school classics without trying to be quaint or try hard. Being a Londoner I was honestly not expecting much being in such a touristy part of town and was completely surprised by how great it was! Will defo be making the trip into Central and coming again. Would recommend to locals and tourists alike for a decent boozer. Thank you Duke for being so great :)More

Wandered in looking for a quieter place in Soho and found it. Lovely traditional English Victorian pub. Private booths, a second bar upstairs, reading room, comfy sofas. Sam Smith Brewery so decent beers/ales/ciders from Yorkshire. Staff really friendly and helpful - told us about seating/bar...upstairs. Generally a nice crowd in. Will definitely visit again.More

The first time I've been out in London but what a pub! Luke Hewitt was an excellent bar tender, very knowledgeable and friendly. The pub feels like stepping back in time to the 1850s, beautiful. We had a very comfortable and spacious table all night,...drinking very affordable beer in a brilliant atmosphere. 10/10More

One particular member of staff was unpleasant for no real reason. Our pints were not filled adequately and when he eventually agreed to top them up, he made the point of intentionally slamming them down and spilling them when he brought them back. When I...pay £6.50 for a cider, I expect to receive a full pint of the stuff.More
