We came across this little pub, while wandering the streets of Oxford after a conference. Out first choice was King's Arms nearby, but no table available. The atmosphere was nice and there was quite a variety on the menu. We decided to stick to fish and chips. Although good, I have had much better. Mediocre value for money.

Pub was recommended to us by a local to get a traditional pub meal. Tiny pub but atmospheric and food was fine.

While walking around Oxford we came across this very traditional pub "The White Horse" and decided to pop in for a spot of lunch and a drink. Its a very cute little old worldy pub with a little stairway to go down into the main pub area. We were great by very friendly staff, who showed us to our table... More

My partner is a big Inspector Morse fan and loves a real ale so this place ticked all the boxes. A good quality pint with quite a few hand pulls on offer. We didn't eat here and didn't see any food - we were there mid afternoon. Good location buried in the historic part of the city.

I popped in here one Sunday evening for a drink and some food. The atmosphere was fantastic with little rooms that really made the atmosphere brilliant. Beer selection was fantastic and I was impressed. The good menu was extensive and I ordered the fish and chips. It was not great since extremely fatty and bland so if I go again... More

Hello Thank you for the review. Apologies for the fish perhaps not drained enough from the fryer. We do use the best cod but we do not add any salt or beer to the batter due to the allergy issues. But your point has been noted and please do come back for our very popular steak or chicken pie. Regards... More

The White horse really is the most authentic hard you could visit in England. Slightly subterranean, the Shakespearean experience is completed by dozens of ancient photographs and oak panelled walls. Food was ok, but worth it just for the atmosphere!

My friend came to visit me and going out for lunch we found this cute little pub. We saw a couple sat next to us had ordered the Toad in the Hole which looked amazing. We decided to order one each and it definitely did not disappoint! One of the best meals I have eaten at a pub/restaurant and would... More

Ate here twice while in Oxford, and ordered the poached salmon both times. Nice-sized piece of fish, mashed potatoes, dill sauce, mixed veg . . . all served by nice staff in great atmosphere. The second time I visited, I happened upon two couples in black tails, white tie and gowns. What a fun and energizing place. Enjoy!

Famous old pub ( used for filming for Lewis, morse and a variety of other programmes). Lovely interior and excellent beers and very friendly staff. Food ok but very average and thought that the 4 pieces of calamari followed by a chilli with more juice than solids could be improved on for the price. Saying that a great place to... More

Fabulous atmosphere, loved the deep fried camembert, amazing! The ales are great, staff lovely & the locals were in fine fettle with a society of male students dressed in women sitting in silence or ordered to drink & leave if they communicated in amy way with the clientele. We had a lot of fun & went back a second time.... More

Hello Many many thanks for your great comments. The gentlemen that you saw that evening have been visiting our premises for many years every Christmas and we so do have fun with them. The idea is they are not allowed to talk but to mime even when they sang from our White Horse Christmas song book. Yo can catch a... More
