The Oxford Retreat was a brilliant venue for my retirement party. Excellent having Imogen to liaise with, and she sorted out every detail very efficiently and pleasantly. The food was brought up to us on time, the only small hitch was that from the first to the last person getting served took a little while (including confusion over one meal).... More

Great atmosphere and staff could not have been more helpful or friendly having phoned and booked table so we could eat, drink and watch the match. Simple rugby menu but burgers were superb as was veggie sausage. Really eclectic crowd of happy punters. Just the ticket other than England lost!

I spent time here whilst staying at a local hostel and travelling between Oxford and London. Usually solo travellers wanting to sit and read is seen to put a dampener on an evening but I was always made to feel welcome to sit with my drink and read my book. Prices are reasonable for the class of the establishment. Cosy... More

We planned to go for a drink or two at the Oxford retreat this weekend. It has recently been closed for refurbishment so we were eager to see the results. We were disappointed. No atmosphere and furniture which would not look out of place in a village hall. Shame, we've always enjoyed it there in the past. A round of... More

Popped into The Retreat for a couple of pints whilst visiting Oxford. The building is very attractive on the outside and has clearly undergone a recent refurbishment inside, very clean and modern. Drinks served by welcoming staff and mine was served with a slice of lime, ice and serviette, important little extras not often available elsewhere.

Not the best pub in the area. The toilets were awful and dirty. The food was ok but nothing special. The location is good as it is next to a pay and display car park.

A good watering hole with a relaxed atmosphere comfortable seating and service with a smile along with a good selection of beer. We did not want a full meal but when we asked for a bowl of chips with cheese it was no problem. Will we return yes.

Popped in Here yesterday with My wife and friends.Thought what a lovely pub.Charming but a bit expensive for the drinks. One of our group popped to the Mens toilet. He came out and said they smell and best avoid if possible.I needed to go so went in.There was a distinct smell of Wee.Only 1 of the Hand basons was working. There was... I've never had a worse pint of Heineken in my life or been in a pub with smellier toilets. Place has a pretentious air about it. Give it a miss would be my recommendation.

We popped in here for a quick drink on the way to the station. The service at the bar was grumpy and unimpressive and the ambience lack luster so we decided to sit in the garden. It's filthy! There is rubbish (like disused catering equipment, old pieces of wood and so on) around the place and then we saw the... More
