What a lovely place - a proper pub! We stumbled across it by accident on Saturday evening for a couple of beers, and loved it so much we came back for Sunday lunch - the Yorkshire pudding wraps are amazing. We'll definitely be back on...More

What a little gem of a place. Small but interesting. It just has that 'feel' to it that most pubs have lost. It's unpretentious, serves a good variety of wines and beers, well cooked, tasty, piping hot food, lovely friendly staff and a pleasant outside...More

Visited on a Friday evening with a few friends. Had a burger and a beer. The burger was cheap, but also tasted cheap. It was quite dry and consisted of nothing more then bread, meat and a bit of salad. If I were looking for...More

The Rose and Crown was my hangout as a student at nearby St. Antony's College. I revisited it recently with family and was glad to see that not that much had changed after over 30 years. I went with my daughter, and we were allowed...More

Had a quick meal in this gem of an old pub. The steak and ale pie was excellent and only improved on by the beer.

Just happened to find this place and what a place it is. It's like a pub should be and the beer and the service were terrific. Unfortunately we didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Go and track it down - it's not...More

Nice old pub in a quiet part of town. Very friendly staff. Good pub grub - burger was excellent. Wine by the glass was good quality and reasonably-priced.

We were recommend to visit this pub by the bike hire company, so pleased we did! This is a fantastic traditional British pub with good beer, good food and friendly company. We instantly felt welcome from the moment we arrived until we had to leave

Really cool little place! The bartender is an old charming "chap" who knows little about "trendy things like pale ale" but a lot about beer. The place has lots of drinks, and a great atmosphere. Cosy, charming and a lovely backyard.

Usually a cpl of spaces on the street itself, if not try non-residential bays on Winchester and Canterbury roads. 👍

Description
In Oxford you'll find a warm welcome at the Rose and Crown (built in 1863). Run by Deborah and Andrew for 30years, the award winning pub is popular with students, locals and tourists of all ages and interests. The bar stocks a range of traditional English bitter on handpump, as well as good wines, malt whiskies, Belgian bottled beers and lager. The menu offers a selection of hot and cold meals, freshly made sandwiches and light snacks. The traditional interior is simply styled with a cosy, characterful atmosphere and to the rear a vine-draped, heated and covered courtyard. Close to the town centre. Recommendations include The Good Pub Guide, The Good Beer Guide, The Quiet Pint.
