Very popular location with good Sunday lunch. We dropped on chance knowing it would be busy. The staff were very helpful and found a cosy alcove ideal for the 4 of us. Fair portions although the veggie option looked a bit light compared to the roast. 3 real ales on offer and in the interests of research we tried them... More

This is a quaint pub, a bit on the small side. The food was very good and the choice of real ales is excellent

Good, innovative food, nice atmosphere, well trained friendly and efficient staff. Been going for years, it is always very busy, Monday to Sunday, every day is busy at the Wortley Arms which speaks for itself. It is a very well run establishment and we would highly recommend.

Our 2nd visit here, but we had already booked a family party for later in the year, on the strength of our 1st visit. We called last night to finalise details and eat. From the moment we entered the staff were attentive and our party requirements were handled in a friendly and extremely efficient manner. The food and drink were... More

Had Sunday lunch today at the Wortley Arms. The food was fabulous I could not fault it, traditional roast dinner, beautifully cooked, and served with genuine friendliness. nothing was too much trouble. We both had sticky toffee pudding which was to die for. We left the restaurant feeling extremely well fed and very content, we will certainly be back.

This is the restaurant we choose for regular Sunday lunches. Never been disappointed! We also take friends and family whenever they are visiting. The food is amazing. The portions are generous with great attention paid to seasonal good quality ingredients. All given great respect by a top notch chef ! Give it a go you will not regret it.

Visited with friends to treat one to a birthday lunch. The menu is excellent and the blackboard choice. Had bacon chop with delicious leeks in a creamy sauce which was delicious. Brocolli cooked to perfection. New potatoes excellent. Two of us had this meal. Another the fish and chips accompanied with peas and tartare sauce. She said it was delicious.... More

We came on a wet and miserable weekend, seeking hot food and comfortable surrounds and we weren't disappointed. The soup was excellent, with plenty of warm bread and delicious cheesy croutons. We then had starters to share for our mains with chips and their famous onion rings. Again, hot, well cooked and very tasty. Service was excellent despite being very... More

The food at the Wortley Arms was excellent and the service was very good as well. We had two vegans in our party who very extremely well catered for, with their own vegan menu and lots of choice, tow of our party were also gluten free and they were well looked after. The service staff were relaxed and friendly but... More

Description
The Wortley Arms was originally built as a coach house in 1753 at a cost of 188 pounds and 66 shillings! After an extensive renovation period we reopened our doors in November 2006.You will find we have retained many of the features that have given this historical building its renowned character including its revolving doors and the solid oak beams. Customers can enjoy themselves in our warm welcoming environment in front of our wood fire, whilst enjoying a locally brewed ale or some excellent fresh food like our famous Wortley Pie.The Montagu Rooms occupy the upper floor. Here we can accommodate private functions for all purposes. You can hire part or the whole of the top floor for exclusive private dining, for seated parties of up to 50 or buffet style catering for larger gatherings. Alternatively you can reserve the entire venue including the facilities of the Wortley Arms.Food for both the Wortley Arms and the Montagu Rooms is prepared under the direction of Master Chef of Great Britain Andy Gabbitas. Andy uses recipes that he has collected in the course of his experience as private chef to well known celebrities and on his world travels to produce a cuisine at its most pure, simple and seasonal.
