Visited for the first time since it has been taken over by Joules and refurbished. Two entrance doors and not immediately clear that one is to the bar area and one to the dining area. We ended up in the dining area but it was...quiet so we stayed there for a drink although we did feel we needed to move as the place filled with diners. Booths are nice areas for a get together and air con welcome. We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food . As the place started to get busier there seemed to be a constant stream of people walking past diners to get to the ‘water closet’. More than one went in the wrong direction and had to be re-directed by diners. These toilets are unisex - this is not stated on the signs and was quite disarming to walk in and find someone if the opposite sex in there. Couldn’t use the toilet as the seat and floor around it were soaking wet ! Come on Henry Tudor - this place could continue to be a great place but you need to sort the basics out.More

We went in a group for evening dinner. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast enough - but we found the portions very disppointing for the price. One of our set had the duck (at £20 one of the dearest mains) and...it was really a small plate of meat. In fact, he sent it back to the chef to query the portion offered, to ask if this was really all there was to it, only to get it back and be told that that was correct. For the cost, it really was not worth the money. Another in our group had a vegetarian meal which was similarly disappointing in terms of size. I don't think we will be eating there again and I wouldn't recommend it - there are plenty of other local inns that do better in and aorund Shrewsbury.More

Popped in for a quick drink before dinner elsewhere. What a beautiful pub! Lots of little nooks and cranies to explore and enjoy a drink in. We found a booth for two complete with old books and curiosities. Staff were very welcoming and the place...had a very laid back feel on a Wednesday evening.More

saw the front of the pub proudly displaying that the pub has been there since 1429. was intrigued enough to pop in and have a look. chatted to an american lady outside first. went in and bought a packet of crisps and a couple of...beers.....well, shandies. lovely pub. so interesting. some cool celebs depicted in an old style on the walls. phasianus colchicus by our table and booths and other rooms which you wouldn't have thought were there. what an amazing pub. the above latin two word thing is a pheasant by the way. great pub. will we return. oh yes, we will and we will dine there. looking forward to it.More

Best pub Sunday lunch I've ever had. The staff were very smiley and helpful despite it being incredibly busy. We'll certainly return

The food was lovely. The service was really slow! We ordered drinks before ordering our food and they took ages! We had to ask where they were. The starters were over priced. The mains were good. We waited a good half an hour after ordering...our desserts. They weren't really busy. Would go back but won't rush back.More

This is a wonderful place to go for a drink. The renovation is so good and the pub oozes character. This lunchtime I had fairly high expectations for the food. First surprise was that most dishes were edging toward twenty pounds. I told myself it...would probably be worth the money and ordered the aubergine bake. Despite being possibly the only diner, the plate took twenty minutes to arrive. I was very disappointed by what I saw. I was tempted to send it back. Sorry but standards have risen and this isn't good enough, especially at these prices. So I will continue to go along for a pint or two of the very decent ale but I will think twice before ordering food again. I did take a photo but TA doesn't like my iPhone photo format.More

What a lovely premises the Henry Tudor is, sadly, we were so disappointed with the food. We ordered bread and whipped butter for starters. It was ok, big chunks of bread and a pretty inoffensive flavoured butter. A couple of us ordered the braised chicken...leg, which was nicely cooked, but was accompanied by sides that did not live up to what was described on the menu. The other mains were pretty average. A couple of us ordered desert, one of which was bizarre - rhubarb parfait with basil sorbet, it was like eating neat pesto from the jar. We brought it to the attention of the staff (who up until this point had been very good) explaining that it was inedible, but no offer to change or refund was made. What a shame.More

I used to enjoy coming to the HTH and would bring friends as I thought it was one of the nicest places in town for an older crowd. Quirky layout and decor, good beer and food, switched on staff. Visited last night for the first...time after the Joules refurb and all of that still exists. However there is one change which will make me think twice about returning - Unisex toilets. This might be acceptable/the norm for a younger generation but I really don't like them. Without these I would have given a four star rating.More

Popped in for a few drinks following the recent refurbishment and it did not disappoint. The refurb has been done brilliantly and very sympathetically for the building. There are some great little seating areas throughout. Friendly staff.

Honestly one of the nicest pubs we have been too in a long time. The joules ales were really good and the food was amazing. The staff were brilliant and a special thank you to a young lady called Georgina who was honestly, an amazing...host. We can't fault our experience here and will definitely be coming back again.More

Having been for Sunday lunch a few months earlier, thought we'd book again. Service was perfect, staff very pleasant. All our dinners did incorporate roast parsnips, unfortunately they were cut extremely large and were very hard, almost under cooked. There seems to be a shortage...of gravy on each plate so asked for more which we kindly had.....came in a thimble? Not sure if a change of cook or what? But disappointed this time around.More

Sadly, I don't believe they do mainly because it is a Tudor age building.
